Let's all hope that the closure of Josephine's is NOT to make way for a Chick-fil-a.

I simply don't understand why the park thinks it should only have one ice cream location open (Roman Freeze) in the park in the summer. SMH at closing Josephine's and especially London Dairy.

And Gelato di San Marco. I miss that place more than Josephine's

And the Rhinefeld ice cream shop. There has been an absolute slaughter of cold dessert options at BGW over the last couple years.
.........Never thought about this before. Why the hell does BGW think people do not want to buy ice cream in the summer. I could see if they converted one into something like a shaved ice stand (that would be cool) but this makes no business sense. when its hot as hell out people want ice cream.

Yeah this has puzzled me to especially given that half of the time all of the Di and Dots places are closed to.

Miss that place too! Ever since I was a kid visiting BGW, they offer the best soft serve ice cream. Years ago I remember when they made the waffle cones fresh in the ice cream shops. You could smell the waffle cones as soon as you get into Rhinefield.

Given the push for profits and the fact that I’ve creams isn’t really profitable I’m not shocked.

Compared to standard food like trappers it is but compared to popcorn and soda it isn't. Probably lies somewhere in the middle of profitability.

Ice cream is very profitable...
Ice cream is profitable on volume. If they have a different dessert more profitable per unit that moves just as much they would likely move to it.

Correct. The issue (at least when my dad still worked in dairy sales) is the milk being price controlled.

Just think if the turn Josephine’s into a Chicfila it will be full circle to back when it was the chicken resturaunt. Now if we could just scrap Griffon and bring back the Lemans cars……

Funny you say that, in the exact spot where Josephine’s is they tried a table
service dining location just before Josephine’s. It failed miserably. I ate there once, food was glorified park food at a high price point and wait staff was like having servers at McDonalds.

There is also a self serve freezer in the Festhaus near the entrance that has the name brand individually packaged ice cream in it. Not that this makes up for the other stores not being open.
