RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I hope when they say "Multi Launching" they don't mean multi launching like Backlot at KD, I like Backlot but I'm hoping it will be more of a thrill ride. If it's anything like the new BGT coaster it will be nothing like Backlot.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

No way we'll be getting anything similar to backlot. Were getting "first" on a launcher... should be pretty exciting and will probably be paying homage to BBW. The park really felt the public outcry when they got rid of it. It'll be a monster just like the wolf was...

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

"Cheetah Hunt" will have 3 launches. This bodes well for us.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Back to the B&M brake thing for a minute:

This new style of brakes isn't being put on all of B&M's new coasters, it's only on the Heide-Park project. Heide-Park is getting something special and from what I can tell, it's reasonable to think that we may be looking at a new B&M Launch System.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

truth is we are all in denial. It could very well be a b&m we get, but it will most likely be an Intamin

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

If im not mistaken X raptor was being built prior to the other one... Also I dont see any of the other parts on the track that are usually associated with a launch. It really does look just like breaks... They really dont even look that different from the old style ones.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Has anyone considered it may be an Inverted Roller Coaster like Volcano at Kings Domino.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

^i am a 100% sure it will not be that

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

^im going to stick with my 100% percent for many reasons

1. why would BGW build the same type of coaster that is just 1 1/2 hours down the road?
2. that was a concept coaster that to my knowledge hasnt really caught on elsewhere
3. KD's ride has a ton of downtime
4. we got BGT with a new sitdown intamin coaster and the company has a history of buying rides in pairs

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

1. Because the one at KD leaves alot to be desired.
2. V2 vertical velocity, and all the other impulse coasters, tornado, to name a few.
3. It may have downtime, but it was an early model and all Intamins are that way.
4. True Dat.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

While I'd like to think that B&M could be creating this, I would be surprised if it happened. B&M has stuck to their promises before. They said they'd never build another wooden coaster; they haven't. They said they'd never build another launcher. I love Hulk at IOA, and truthfully, if we got something similar to that, it would be awesome. I am a fan of the lift/launch over the standard launch for a few reasons. When climbing a lift hill, you get the anticipation, the slow climb to the top. On a launch, that doesn't happen. On a lift/launch, you get anticipation plus the wonder of when the train will launch. It also adds an element to the ride that rocket-style coasters don't have. There are many launch rides in the world now, but not too many are lift/launches. That's what I would like to see, but judging from the new BGT coaster, I'm not sure if it will happen. Just my two pennies, however.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I kinda hope B&M doesn't build the new coaster because I think they're overrated and BGW's three most recent coasters (excluding Grover) are B&M's. I want some more variety in the park.

I have no idea how to respond to this.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Agreed

:look of horror and immense pain:

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I must be missing something here...

and forgive me if I did but, with "Cheetah Hunt" being a multi launch; isn't it a foregone conclusion that the new multi-launch will be Intaride LLC (i.e. Intamin) as well? I mean that's what makes the most sense. As much as I love B&M, (and I also have no idea how you can see them as overrated) Busch builds things in pairs more often than not.

"Sheikra":B&M sister "Griffon":B&M (drop machine)
"Montu"B&M: sister "Alpengiest":B&M (Inverted)
"Kraken":B&M sister "Apollo's Chariot" B&M (flyer)

"Cheetah Hunt":Intamin sister "Bigger Badder Wolf":Intamin. (multi-launch)

For the record, at first I was hoping for a sister to "Manta", but seeing the video for "Cheetah Hunt" I'm pretty stoked for the multi now.

Also the only reason I see for Busch leaving Bolliger & Mabillard is they wanted something to compete with the uber popular "launchers" and B&M won't build a launch coaster. Ergo Intamin was their next designer.

I won't believe otherwise until I hear it from Busch.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Part of me knows what you are saying is true and the other part of me refuses to accept it. Why didn't they learn their lesson from Escape from Pompeii (the only Intamin ride at the park)? It's plagued with constant breakdowns, sensor malfunctions, etc. Or why didn't they learn from KD's i305 mistake? They told Intamin to build a Giga coaster and they get a coaster plagued by blackouts, overheating wheels, guest complaints, etc. I just don't get it...

I want to cry. That coaster is featureless. One meaningless invert, a few poorly done airtime hills, and alot of filler to get it to be the longest coaster in Florida. it's also only the third fastest coaster at the park. In fact, our Nessie is faster.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Fun fact about Cheetah Hunt: It will only be 5ft longer than what is currently the longest coaster in FL.
