RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

As for the name, the good news is that it can't get any worse than BGT's coaster unless they call it Wolf Hunt (which they better not...).

Does "Cheetah Hunt" mean a hunting cheetah, or hunters hunting cheetahs?

I think the name "Wolf Hunt" would outrage people who support the saving and re-introduction of wolves (like me).

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

From what I see the "Cheetah Hunt" refers to you (the coaster) being a cheetah hunting. Heck, the train even looks like a cheetah, and the motion simulates a cheetah running after an antalope or something. Just my opinion.

and yes, it's still a lame, unimaginative, horrible, name.

Keep in mind this is that same bunch of marketing wizards that came up with "Mach Tower".

I would like this track to be at the very least red.

BLOOD red.

Sorry, I don't know what came over me.

At least it's not named after some comic book super hero, movie, TV show, or children's cartoon.

That's one major pet peeve of mine about the naming/theming of amusement park attractions (especially coasters). This is mostly common in Six-Flags and Cedar parks because they get loads of money from media producers to advertise their stuff. Busch Gardens was pretty good about keeping this stuff at bay until the Sesame Street invasion. One reason why I love BGW, (but I loved it a lot more before 2009).

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

i always thought the sesame street addition was nothing but brilliant when it comes to family appeal. but yes i agree with you on naming a ride after something that is already trademarked and a household name.

i am a tad nervous now though for the name of our coaster but lets hope everyone here at BGW sees the mess that BGT is in and picks a name wisely.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

From tonight's Screamscape news update:

...as well as hinting that Mack is in talks to build 2 more Blue Fire style launched coasters… one in Asia and one somewhere in the United States.
From: http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#Mack

Just a coincidence or...?

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Looks interesting. Maybe I'm wrong here, but if BGW wants the coaster to open in 2012, wouldn't they have already signed a deal with a company to build it? The Mack article says they are in talks about a coaster in the US.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

The wording seems very vague as to whether or not there is contract negotiations or talking about contract currently acquired.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

this is very interesting but we don't know how their launch system will work just yet. its its not magnetic then Mack is ruled out

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Mack uses LSMs. See here.

As for how far along it is, it's probably best to quote the original article:
The Launch Coaster is apparently very popular, and Mack Rides has announced us two projects were in talks: a first in Asia and second in the United States.
From here.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

In an interveiw conducted by BGWFans with John Reilly, it was mentioned the the layout of the coaster was "undetermined". It was also hinted that it would have dark ride elements. This is one of those things I'm willing to stand by.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Thanks for reminding me of that Fur Dozy! That is what may make BGW's coaster different than BGT's- that could be the reason why they wouldn't go with Intamin! Mack has a ton of experience with dark rides, Intamin doesn't. Also, the dark ride portion lines up with what Behind the Thrills was hearing and the fact that Mack Rides is a German company lines up with what Screamscape was hearing.

Things are starting to line up...

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

wow i had totally forgotten about the dark ride element part. maybe you guys are right

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Please be MACK. That would make me so happy.

Another awesome aspect about their new LSM coasters is that they use an advanced lapbar system instead of OTSR, even if the coaster has inversions.

All that MACK could offer certainly falls in line with the "firsts" that BGW are proclaiming.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I really hope yopu guys are right. I'd love to see a coaster with dark ride elements folded in. Especially if they were mid run and not just at the beginning.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

If anyone wants to see Blue Fire's trains:

launchcoaster_zug.jpg

They really do look awesome. They look like Intamin trains but still have the openness of a B&M train... And they have lapbars and stadium seating!

EDIT: Just another interesting fact: Blue Fire runs 5 trains with 20 people each for a total of 1720 riders per hour. That's pretty good capacity seeing that i305 only gets 1350 riders per hour...

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

I305s line goes really fast in my opinion, so that line must fly.

RE: Who will make the "Multi-Launch Coaster" for 2012

Do we have that interview with Reilly that mentions the dark ride elements? I'd like to see exactly what he said.
