I'm being completely serious- I honestly don't know anything about management for the park- Is this really one man's fault? Everyone is dreaming up ways to hurt Scott, or at least fire him... But to me, this seems like a culmination of many people's actions (or inaction) that made the working atmosphere intolerable. I could be totally wrong. Maybe he is a tyrant. I've never met the guy. Please correct me, if you know what went down. But are we 100% sure that these setbacks and gross mismanagement are direct actions from Scott? Was the first employee fired by Scott himself?

You are asking a good question. Personally, I've only talked to him a handful of times and I get the vibe I was pretty much invisible to him... just another face that didn't matter. Who knows.. he could have had other things on his mind, or he could just be that distant.

I think most of us here do not know him personally, but are speaking from what we know of how people think of him that work within the park. To utter his name will get a similar response of saying "Voldemort" by most park team members. Thus the reference of "he-who-must-not-be-named."

I do not like saying "I know" because I don't. What I will say is that he obviously is strongly disliked by about everyone. You certainly do not get that reputation for being nice.

I am sure there are those under his lead that are following his orders. I would think given his reputation, that most of those people doing the dirty work would be more likely to do so out of fear of losing their job than actually being mean people.

Its true. Everything people say about him. His staff literally is afraid of losing their jobs if they say anything against him. He pushes people away if they will not listen or finds a reason to get rid of them. I am an example.

The sad part about this is that there are now a few, good, talented performers that are out of a job. Also the park is down to one show with human performers (let's hope the animals get to keep their jobs) while the park guests have to suffer with a sub-par experience when they visit this weekend and will feel like they are not getting their money's worth. It also doesn't matter that the shows are about to change over to HOS as some of those shows may now, or probably are short personnel and have to scramble to adapt.

I really hope that when the dust settles that corporate takes action to hold those (mostly one as generally known) accountable and finds out the true story and not the false/altered version they will be told by park executive staff.

I also wonder how much of hit the parks reputation is going to take when all of this is posted on FB and other media sites, which you know it will. It's possible there could be some investors that won't be happy with the negative publicity and could demand changes.

The Italian Quarter has some new stage props and backdrops. Nothing says Italy like King Tut and friends! Can't wait to see them in action tomorrow!!

That is past tacky to be doing during park hours. Even more appalling that it is being done at a time that OTHER shows should be performing. Shows that guests are expecting to experience.. err this is modern BGW so I feel "expecting to view" is more applicable.

still mad about it all.. but will make an effort to see the park on Sunday Sept 15th to see how HOS is going.. I don't think I can stomach going there any sooner..

I have a question For Zachary regarding the MIU cancellation:

Why is there a chance that MIU might not be coming back next year?

I think this was talked about in the Mix it Up thread, but basically the park doesn't yet know if it has the budget required to maintain five large productions during the main season (London Rocks!, Celtic Fyre, Entwined, This is Oktoberfest, and Mix it Up). Essentially, as far as the budget goes, London Rocks! may be replacing Mix it Up.

Ummm. If SG is still here next year I think we all know the answer to this one, and if this does happen I will be livid, that is my favorite show in the park! If we're lucky maybe They'll keep TIO, and get rid of Entwined :D, after all it doesn't take a genius to see that Entwined probably costs 2x what it costs to operate TIO.

Welcome lostcause. You will see here that we are with, and support, the performers and artists and not current management or park motives. We appreciate all the hard work you do and what you have gone through.

^ Here, here, BGWFamily!!!

Edit: I totally forgot to mention that when I saw the picture CK posted with the times, I laughed out loud and woke my husband up!! "GASPARICH Fine Italian Chocolates" in the big heart box in the picture on the left! HAHAHA! Irony really hits my funny bone...

Nora, SDG, Lostcause, BGWFamily, thank you for your responses. I feel very enlightened to what has been going on in the park... Things I'm sure some of you have known about, or seen coming, but could not post out of decency and respect. It is so disappointing to find out that this man and the people who bow to his whims are running the park into the ground. Of course, I still think that this is just a symptom of a bigger problem. Everyone has a boss. (Except Hitler...) everyone has someone to hold them accountable. Those who are higher up than SG have a responsibility to make sure he is in check and is running the park properly. They have also failed.

When I read Nora's post about guests sitting out in the hot sun without so much as an annoucement for THAT long, I kept thinking, "This would NEVER happen at Disney." In fact, I'm pretty sure if they had to wait that long to scrape a show together, Disney would have sent some character or cast member out there to tell jokes or entertain the guests while they waited.

Yes, I know BGW is not Disney. Doesn't do as much business as Disney. Doesn't have the same man-power as Disney. But they COULD strive to have the same corporate culture as Disney. They COULD value their employees so much that they didn't walk off before a show. They COULD value their guests so highly that even if an employee walked, they immediately put on some kind of show, or made a personal apology to the guests, and maybe even offered a free drink or 10% off merch or some other consolation. They COULD have a PLAN for their money, so that they don't have to close their shows and attractions halfway through the season. But they have chosen not to. They have chosen to value money over the guest experience. They have chosen mediocrity. They have chosen to allow the declining standards of the park to take them down a notch, from one of the most beautiful family THEME parks this country has to offer... To just another amusement park. Just another place with roller coasters. There is a reason people fly from all over the world to see Disney World. And it's not just the rides. IT IS THE EXPERIENCE. And that starts with what happens BEHIND the scenes. That starts with how you train and value your employees. It starts with a drive for EXCELLENCE, instead of PROFIT. When you are excellent, money is a by-product. When your sole purpose is profit... The guest experience WILL suffer. And it drives people away. It kills brand loyalty. It divides and alienates your fan base. It breaks my heart to see what BGW COULD be in the right hands. In good, honest, hard working hands. And the saddest part about it, is that at one point in time, they were heading in that direction! I remember growing up in that park and thinking just how magical it was. How employees made me smile and I truly felt like I was transported to Europe! (An even awesomer version of Europe, that had roller coasters abound and yummier food, and certainly was easier and quicker to walk across. :p ) I remember a time when I didn't go to BGW for several years... Then I got married, and moved to MD. My husband and I could have gone to Six Flags. Cheaper, closer. But I insisted on BG, I didn't want to go to just any amusement park. We honeymooned in Williamsburg and have spent a lot of our married life in BGW! and he was blown away. He grew to love it like I loved it, like an old friend. I remember thinking BG was the closest thing to Disney in the area. Not anymore. And it pains me to think that the park may never bounce back from this. I don't know if it will ever be the way it was when we all loved it most. I just don't see anybody willing to step up and make the serious desperate changes that must be made to save the park.

Wow... Sorry guys for all that. I guess I just had a Zach moment while I was writing that. Like someone threw a rock through the beautiful stained glass in the Festhaus, and I can see my perception of the park (like a life long friend) shatter into tiny pieces. *sigh* I have a trip planned for CT this Christmas. Then, I think I'm going to be DONE with the park for a while.

Oh, and SOMEONE, please take notes this weekend about how all of this goes down with the mass crowds. Start a new thread if you must. I would like to know how this show shuffling is going to affect everyone on one of their busiest weekends.

Apparently someone thinks that guests will not realize that the Killarney Village Band and The Italian Ensemble are the same people/performers. So maybe there was no lie in what was said...ITALIAN ENSEMBLE HAS THE DAY OFF. As an entity, that was true. But, the performers were apparently in Ireland as the Killarney Village Band. I suppose the powers that be prefer to refer to the act versus the performers. Tells you a lot of about their character (see what I did there?).
