Nora, thank you for that description of events, it certainly give me more insight as to how this went down exactly. Through this whole issue, no one ever said this is what happened exactly in the eyes of the guests. Everyone just said people just quit. No explanation as to how this was handled it was just simply as that.
Your post certainly gave me another look at the situation. I must say I am kind of appalled that a guest would get up on stage and try to go backstage. I mean, yes it was probably a logical thing, but it is just something people don't typically think of doing. I would assume you would ask other team members in the immediate area before going off into an area unknown by people other than those who perform there.
I think you pointed out the major aspect of a theme park. The whole purpose of a theme park is to put on a show for the guest, wherever they walk, whatever they do, they are supposed to be in a different time and place. When a show just suddenly doesn't happen and no one addresses the issue, it ruins that illusion of a different time and place.
A theme park is all about what the guests see and experience. Unfortunately by your description Nora, it sounds like things were thrown off. When things have gotten so bad to the point of making it extremely noticeable to guests, then you have a problem.
They way Nora describes that situation, reminds me of how CK described the day EITA closed. The park is getting sloppy with closing things; especially on the spot. No signage, no announcement, no anything. Leaving guests to literally guess for themselves on what is going on is NOT how you do things.
The park is supposed to make things stupid simple. Mainly because you can never be how sure someone is to understand things. having some type of notice, sign, announcement, etc. is just hwo you do things. No questions asked, the park has lost the amount of caring and effort it should be using in a delicate time such as this.
The only real improvement the park has shown recently, is actually responding to a large amount of social media, otherwise they have completely downgraded every other aspect of operating a theme park. It makes me angry that they are being so reckless in a very fragile time. Their funding is being shortened each season and they can't control their spending, they ignore their guests feedback, and they can't even advertise to save their lives!
I am truly fed up with the park executives and it makes me sick to my stomach to know that these people I once respected highly have made a career out of ruining a business. I swear I want to do something, I wish I could do something. If I had any control, those executives would be running scared right now to ever let anything like this happen.
