Now that I've had my consolatory bowl of ice cream...

This cast did not get the appreciation nor recognition they deserve. They did not get the proper send off and goodbye they deserved. This show, nor cast, does not deserve any of this.

What is it going to take for the originator of these atrocities to get what HE deserves?

They will probably remove it when they see it tomorrow morning, or do nothing.

On a more serious note, why is canceled spelled like such? Shouldn't it be cancelled?

The night is darkest just before the dawn people. We only lost a few days really here. No need to completely lose control.

It's not that we're losing it for the rest of the season, it's that it's unbelievable(to us at least) that an event like this happened. It's Unbelievable an event like this took place in Busch Gardens. It's unbelievable that a whole cast walked off the job at BGW! It's Unbelievable that this wonderful cast was so sick and tired of their treatment, that there was only one way to get out of it, walk off the job! It's unbelievable that this event was bound to happen, because of the gastly actions of one man! That's why we're freaking out over this.

From what my sources say, only 2 performers quit, while one other got fired. It was not the entire cast.

I think for right now, we should wait until the full details surface. Until then I think it is probably best to just say that "some performers quit on the spot".

Also, it is true it will always be darkest before dawn, I know it is unbelievable and shocking, but we should have seen this coming. Especially with SDG's thread.

Everything I want to ask seems so petty compared to the travesty of losing yet another of our musicians.... but I realize this way of thinking precludes other discourse on the topic so I will pose a question: Was this musician fired because they didn't budget as many people for Dig It Up? Or were they planning on replacing them?

It has taken me a while to even respond to anything here. Today was not a fun day for me or for anyone waiting in the audience to watch Mix It Up.

I cannot speak for the exact means of what happened behind stage, so please don't ask.. seriously- I don't know.

We got to the theater around 12:30 and noticed there was an unusually large crowd for a Thursday 1pm show. Even the bench seats were almost full.

The sun came out and started beating down on our heads and the countdown commenced. 1:05... 1:10.... 1:15 Nothing. So far, no announcement or staff explaining the situation. Guests started shifting in their seats, sharing bewildered glances, and asking whispered questions like "What is going on?, I thought the show was at 1 today." Some people eventually got up, looked around confused, and then just walked off.

Other families sat there 30 -40 minutes in the sun and waited. Those are the people who were NOT happy at all.

A guest got to the point that he just walked on stage and opened the backdoor to find out what was going on. No one was around to ask anything, so folks started asking people in the restaurant (Culinary dept) for answers.

So basically:
"Dogs and Cats Living together- Mass hysteria!"

Around 45-60 minutes after the scheduled showtime, something along the lines of "Mix It Up is experiencing technical difficulties and will be canceled today. However the Italian Ensemble will be playing here at 3pm." was finally announced over the speakers.

Groans and harsh words like "rip off" were being said around me.

At this time, some trained ninja removed the "Mix It Up" sign and switched it with Italian Ensemble. To make matters worse, the times listed for the replacement show were all wrong.

When a team arrived, the damage had been done. I imagine these folks returned to Guest Relations and Facebook to vent their ire.

Despite all the issues going on behind stage, the most important aspect of a theme park is what goes on in front of it. No one was sent out to filter questions, to offer apologies, or to inform anyone until there was a group of very angry individuals.

I'm sorry. It is just mind numbing to even dwell on how this could have been publicly handled better today.

I won't comment on why the original musician was fired. I've been given reasons, but it's certainly not my place to share them. As for the entire group's status in Dig it Up, it's my understanding that at least a few of the musicians who have left over the last two days had been given positions.

Nora, thank you for that description of events, it certainly give me more insight as to how this went down exactly. Through this whole issue, no one ever said this is what happened exactly in the eyes of the guests. Everyone just said people just quit. No explanation as to how this was handled it was just simply as that.

Your post certainly gave me another look at the situation. I must say I am kind of appalled that a guest would get up on stage and try to go backstage. I mean, yes it was probably a logical thing, but it is just something people don't typically think of doing. I would assume you would ask other team members in the immediate area before going off into an area unknown by people other than those who perform there.

I think you pointed out the major aspect of a theme park. The whole purpose of a theme park is to put on a show for the guest, wherever they walk, whatever they do, they are supposed to be in a different time and place. When a show just suddenly doesn't happen and no one addresses the issue, it ruins that illusion of a different time and place.

A theme park is all about what the guests see and experience. Unfortunately by your description Nora, it sounds like things were thrown off. When things have gotten so bad to the point of making it extremely noticeable to guests, then you have a problem.

They way Nora describes that situation, reminds me of how CK described the day EITA closed. The park is getting sloppy with closing things; especially on the spot. No signage, no announcement, no anything. Leaving guests to literally guess for themselves on what is going on is NOT how you do things.

The park is supposed to make things stupid simple. Mainly because you can never be how sure someone is to understand things. having some type of notice, sign, announcement, etc. is just hwo you do things. No questions asked, the park has lost the amount of caring and effort it should be using in a delicate time such as this.

The only real improvement the park has shown recently, is actually responding to a large amount of social media, otherwise they have completely downgraded every other aspect of operating a theme park. It makes me angry that they are being so reckless in a very fragile time. Their funding is being shortened each season and they can't control their spending, they ignore their guests feedback, and they can't even advertise to save their lives!

I am truly fed up with the park executives and it makes me sick to my stomach to know that these people I once respected highly have made a career out of ruining a business. I swear I want to do something, I wish I could do something. If I had any control, those executives would be running scared right now to ever let anything like this happen.

End of Rant

Definitely sounds frustrating for those of you at the park today. I'm just done with Scott, and I am not even a giant fan of shows, I'll see 1 or 2 every time I'm at the park, but it's not why I'm there.

I'm thinking about getting rid of my BGW pass unfortunately, already did with WCUSA, as ocean breeze is far cheaper and closer to my home, and brings something new most years....

I'm being completely serious- I honestly don't know anything about management for the park- Is this really one man's fault? Everyone is dreaming up ways to hurt Scott, or at least fire him... But to me, this seems like a culmination of many people's actions (or inaction) that made the working atmosphere intolerable. I could be totally wrong. Maybe he is a tyrant. I've never met the guy. Please correct me, if you know what went down. But are we 100% sure that these setbacks and gross mismanagement are direct actions from Scott? Was the first employee fired by Scott himself?

Extra! Extra!! NEW HEADLINE (I'd like to see)...

Elmo, Grover, and perennial crowd favorite Cookie Monster, walk out of the Forest of Fun citing unfair treatment from management, wanting actual REAL trees in FOF, and a desire to play LIVE music. The Count is now uncertain as a return for HOS..."Let's see how many shows YOU can COUNT that are still alive in the park. Ah ah ah!!" Kiddies everywhere began to cry.

The semi-good news on all of this is, Tampa sent help. The bad news, the help is no where to be seen at the moment. I don't know the details, but according to a source that I know personally, one person showed up to the park to help alleviate the situation and then kinda disappeared. There are rumors as to why the person has not been at the park recently, but it seems they are close by, and may just be waiting for a situation like this to step in and smack SG.
