I am glad to hear that Dead Line and 13 were great. But, I am kind of disappointed that Fear Fair was horrible. I was really looking forward to the return of the clowns. I think it is just that area. That area always seems to have bad luck with houses. I think Cursed literally Cursed the area...

I was in the Fear Fair area while it was still light out, I think that negatively effected it. Bitten's line was way to long and the house got backed up which sucked. LOVED Deadline. Didn't make it into the Catacombs or 13, had to leave at 9:30. The scarezones where underwhelming, I think the rain and humidity kept the fog machines from filling the area, just a guess. I could clearly see all the scarezone actors. Overall it was very well put together and very well themed. Will be returning soon to finish the remaining houses and give the scarezones another chance.

I will post up a more detailed review later.

Houses: I thought 13 and Dead Line were great, Catacombs and Bitten were good, and Fear Fair was very disappointing. 13 and Dead Line were far and above better than anything else in the park. 13 was a very long house, it seemed like it kept going and going, but in a good way. Dead Line was themed extremely well and you can tell it was completely renovated and everything was new. Catacombs was good because it was very dark, Bitten was good...but expect the same as the past, and a long line. Fear Fair was really bad. It wasn't even scary...it was just weird. I am hoping it will improve over the next few weeks.

Scare Zones: They were okay, they were themed much better than in the past...but they were very small. I think they will get better when it starts to get dark a little earlier. The clown and scavenger zones were tiny...and I mean tiny.

Shows: Monster Stomp was good, but not as good as in the past. I still found it pretty entertaining. Fiends was pretty bland...except for the nurses. I can see why some people would complain, but at the same time I hope they leave the costumes as is. I will say that it is more than just the costumes though, a lot of the movements the girls make are pretty 'suggestive'. I also was a bit shocked to see nurses out in Oktoberfest selling alcoholic jello shots.

Overall the thematic and scares are vastly improved from the past few years. It seems they went much more detailed in the decorating this year. I highly recommend Howl-o-Scream this year. I will be going back 2-3 more times. Along with Haunt at KD.

So much fun tonight at Howl-O-Scream. Here's a description of my full visit!

13: Your Numbers Up- I can't quite remember all of the phobias and/or the order of them, but here is a big mixed up jumbled list of what I can remember. Fear of Funeral Homes, Fear of Death, Fear of Torture, Fear of the Dentist, Fear of the Doctor, Fear of Heights, Fear of Snakes, Fear of Insects, Fear of Spiders, Fear of Going to Bed, and I absolutely cannot remember the last 3, sorry about that!
Dead Line- This maze was VERY good. At the entrance they had a video playing with a news reporter, and a pre-video showing a webcam of the different rooms when you were about to go into the maze. Everything was really well themed, and the scariest part was when you got into the subway and the zombies were surrounding you on both sides. This maze was by far better than Revenge of Pompei, so glad they changed it!
Fear Fair- Fear Fair was my least favorite out of the three I went into tonight. They had the huge ringmaster, the clowns sitting on chickens, a room full of chickens with some dead ones hanging on hooks (the smell was really bad in this section, it smelled rotten), and the fortune teller. It really was not a bad maze, it just wasn't as good being compared to the rest. There were less scare actors, but it might have just been the timing! You never know. I'll try it out again for sure.
Unleashed- This has improved SO MUCH from years ago. The props were great, there were huge wooden walls and netting totally blocking your vision and making you feel paranoid and extra jumpy, which gave you a bigger scare when a scare actor would come around.
Scavengers- I loved this! There were bird-faced people, bloody scarecrows, and lots of great props.
Grin and Scare It- Again, the props made the scare zone. I personally didn't think the clowns were as scary as they were from years back, but the atmosphere was amazing.
Widow Makers- Loved it! No walls or anything, but they used lots of webs and spiders and mummies. There were lots of chainsaw guys and they definitely got in your face this year.
Fiends- I didn't think that the nurse costumes were as big a deal as the dancing they did. It was a fun show, but only if you're going to the Festhaus to eat. I would not go just for the show.

Already saw Monster Stomp, didn't get to see Catacombs or Bitten, and nothing was happening when I went through Stitchen' Time.
My overall opinion of HOS 2011 is that it is way scarier than last year by far and I am extremely happy with it! The props in the scare zones were unbelievably good, they created great hideouts for the scare actors which definitely attributed to the scare factors. THANK YOU BUSCH GARDENS!

Yep, they were selling shots. I had to go back and make sure what I saw was real. I think they were even selling them in syringes...

Rides were open all night.

How exactly do they execute some of the phobias in 13. I can see how they can execute the doctor, the dentist, and snakes. But, how do they execute the fear of heights and the fear of bedtime. It sounds absolutely amazing.
