Parklore blocking me made me realize we value different aspects. I judged it as a coaster. They probably judged it as a themed experience, and probably went when the ride was new and the theming was enough to present a coherent story. My suggestion of retheming it to a Berlin techno party and playing onboard audio would probably not have a story, even if it would be easier to use a warehouse to convincingly portray a warehouse rave than a forest. (Wait, warehouse raves are more a UK / US thing, right?) There's plenty of track between the station and warehouse, so the geography issue of the distance between Berlin and Munich can be handwaved away.
I never rode Verbolten at its best. 2017 was well in its decline. I will have to wait until they refurbish the show building to see if the themed experience is as good as gliding through a village would have been - if they can tell a coherent story, or if it's lipstick on a pig. Next year is the tenth anniversary, which would be perfect timing. Until then, I judge it as a coaster and not a themed experience, it falls flat on that regard and I will not ride it when I am at the park, and I declare Twisted Timbers Virginia's best spooky trees coaster.
Actually, looking at very old Reddit posts of mine, I actually highly rated the coaster, before I rode more rides to have a reference / bias. Most importantly, it was before the day I threw up. And I narrowed it down, it certainly wasn't one beer on a very hot day, or two laps on Apollo. I am still sore towards it because no other ride has humiliated me like this.
