So, question: Official stance on tripods these days?

Tripods are okay and clear to go in.

Sounds like BGW got the same updated signage that we received earlier this year at BGT. I believe it's the same - word for word.

Yes, it looks exactly like it, from the picture you had taken earlier. Unfortunately that signage conflicts with the current policies. Therefore only a few things are being followed per signage.

For example, the food rule will now follow what the sign says, along with some discrepancy of the officer. Meaning, listen to the sign or the officer may allow you in disregarding the sign.

However, all drinks not just bottled water are permitted, just not large drinks like gallons or 2+ liters of anything other than water.

The 14x14 Cooler rule, does apply because all sticks were replaced with new ones that measure 14 inches. But still no hard coolers.

My take on this new signage is, this must be either the company policy that all parks should have posted or they listened to my email about how Tamapa has better, clearer understanding signage.

So... what's the deal with bag checkers violently searching through bags?

I hate name dropping employees on here (and I try to avoid it), but I had this guy [name removed] check my bag on Sunday. I had my bag open well enough where you could easily search inside. Didn't have much in the bag either. (wallet, camera, bottle of water, some candy.) But they were basically violently searching through my bag looking at the same items for longer than necessary for a bag of it's size. Broke the zipper on my bag, and honestly looked like they were about to stab a hole through my bag with that stick. It took me roughly 30 minutes trying to fix the zipper on my bag afterwards.

RE: BGW Security

I had him a couple weeks ago.:dodgy:

I had 2 cups, 2 ponchos, and 2 phones. He took 45 seconds checking my bag! I literally had to re-organize everything after. He unfolded My neatly folded ponchos so I had to refold those, and he detached a strap on one of my cups. I was livid, even though I didn't really care, and now I intentionally avoid him. I would much rather wait behind a person with a stroller(they take forever to get checked) to get my bag checked by someone other than him, than get it checked by him, just to have to reorganize my whole bag over again.

Interesting. Perhaps it may have to do with what I have been hearing. Apparently corporate was very upset this past weekend. They were not happy with the amount of costumes they saw in the park. They came to the conclusion that guests aren't obviously walking in the park with them on but hiding them in their bags.

It could be that, or he could just be more serious about security. Either way, I do find it unacceptable if he is is damaging things. However, I'd rather him take 5 mins to search one bag, than not even glance in it.

I try not to take bags, so I don't get the experience, but when I bring my friend she only has a small purse and they just typically glance and we go on our way.

RE: BGW Security

Does part of that including breaking guests' bags?

Keeping stuff out is one thing, but that's personal property that's being damaged.

RE: BGW Security

I like to think we should be proactive not reactive. I say, if you feel that they are over the top, talk to them calmly and try to resolve the issue there. If they continue without care, then don't bother to say I am going to report you, just leave a comment at GR saying you felt what they did was not right. But most the time, with any team member, talking calmly with them straight forward tends to work best, from experience.

Update the OP, I grouped things together. I believe its more manageable and you can easily see what you want to see thanks to spoiler tags. Let me know what you like and what you don't.

RE: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Security

So the park was really full last Saturday and I had a few friends that went to the park and were really concerned about security. They told me they just started letting people in the park and stopped checking bags. Does this worry anyone else? I mean I know bag check is mostly a deterrent and if someone is smart things can get through, but to just blatantly stop on a really busy day of all times?

I don't know... it seems like at least some sort of security is better than no security.

I saw the same thing! It didn't worry me too much, but I had to wonder what was going on.

RE: Busch Gardens Williamsburg Security

I came into the park around 4 and there was a HUGE backup of people going from the security line past the England bridge and up the hill. If the bag check continued I could see it get a lot longer.

The park just wants to push people and keep them from clogging up the paths. They were giving away free parking at the tollbooths too to keep 64 from backing up

Someone complained on Facebook, that they are a pass member and in this day and age they feel metal detectors are necessary.

Until some freakazoid gives the park a reason for metal detectors, they will be ignoring comments like these. KD had incidents with knives and that is why they are there. They wont even let you in with one of those little keychain swiss army knife thingys. They will take it, tag it, then you pick it up on your way out.
