I don't mind overlapping themes if they're well connected. Too bad these aren't really. There's a simple solution, though. Rename everything

Alpengeist -> GeisterWölf
Verbolten -> WölfsSturm
DarKoaster -> WölfsReign
New Coaster -> WölfKläsh

I now know BGW reads these threads so I'm expecting a job offer in the next half hour. I want 300k/year and full benefits thank you.

Everyone in this thread is way too mad. I think we've all just gotten older and forgot how to have fun. What happened between DrachenSpire being a cool great idea and GeisterWolf being the worst thing that's ever happened? Listen folks, it's all corny as hell. As someone pointed out earlier, the original promo for BBW was just as absurd. It's fine. The people love it. At least it's more inspired than "Griffon" being... just... Griffon.

I have no issue with multiple storm coasters (DarKoaster, Verbolten) or coasters with wolf themes. I personally find the idea of GeisterWolf and Alpengeist in the same park as kinda neat. Though, I will admit that "reign" in this current.... political... climate... is not the smartest of moves.

A return to a Bavarian village is incredible and the best we could have hoped for once we found out that plot of land was being wasted on a family invert (see, I can be critical too). Fact is, people still super highly regard the BBW and while Verboten's call backs are cute, the spirit of the wolf returning is probably what people want most. It's a smart nostalgia play. The name and theme are fine.

Namaste. Everyone please take nibble on a Xanax.

WELCOME BACK CARTER! 😃

So what I gleaned from this post is that we need to advocate for an extra poll option dubbed "XannieWölf?" Sounds kinda care(less)...😆

I voted for GeisterWolf. Honestly it was the only name I found somewhat decent. I'm glad that when it comes to the ride itself that they are theming it as much as they can. I wonder what else they have in mind for the 50th, maybe landscaping, entertainment, food and theme enhancements could be in the works that we don't know yet.

Am I the only one who thinks DarKoaster is a really stupid name? No offense to whoever came up with it, it just doesn't do it for me.

Now I'm thinking of an alternate timeline where we got DrachenSpire instead of this, and we're all having this exact same argument over it being named "DrachenGeist"...

In all seriousness, I'm not shocked at all if SEAS- I mean, *ahem*, United Parks, is using ChatGPT/AI to write things. This year's house descriptions for HoS seemed... strangely verbose, lots of $100 dollar words.

In a vacuum the name would be stupid, but considering it follows DarKastle, it makes sense to me. Also, my understanding (please correct me if I’m wrong—I’m new-ish here) is that this community christened the ride as such early in the speculative days of the ride’s coming together, and BGW seems to have taken notice and adopted the moniker. If that’s true, then I think it’s really special that this community of coaster fans was able to influence a new ride at the park they love.

Of course, GPTZero calls a lot of my stuff AI, so I don't know how reliable this thing is. Still funny to think about.

I believe @Zachary came up with that name😋
Tbh it's pretty terrible! Which was kinda my point before...we as the park fans should be happy they took our suggestion the last time. I will say, it just so happened to be pretty spot on for marketing purposes and resurrecting the Darkastle lore, but as rides go...even AI would have probably come up with something better! (Run that through your algorithm)

At this point if it's not GeisterWölf I think I'll probably be disappointed. That's what I voted for too and it's grown on me and a couple people here have said it as well...its kind of cool the connection with Alpengeist being a B&M invert and all. Ghosts of the Old Country what have you...

And let's be completely honest. Who here doesn't think GeisterWölf is a badass name??

For the record, DarKoaster is not a good attraction name. Unless there is a hyper specific story justification (Velocicoaster), any name that includes the ride type in the name is probably not good. I codenamed our understanding of the project DarKoaster, but I believe BGW could and probably should have come up with something better designed to allow the ride to stand on its own.

I'll happily bite this bullet too: DarKastle isn't a good name either, in my opinion. It's possible that the requirement to reference DarKoaster's predecessor—especially since the new attraction really doesn't convey any story of its own—required such a heavy-handed callback name. That would be its own additional, independent issue though.

Ultimately, the codename BGWFans selected to convey what the attraction was to fans (a coaster in DarKastle) was, apparently, so effective that it was also selected as the final name by BGW. Again, not what I would have done, 🤷‍♂️.

Of the three codenames BGWFans has put forward for BGW projects, in so far as being used for the final attraction name, my order of preference is Drachen Spire > Holzfäller > DarKoaster. As for their use as a codename for our understanding of a project pre-annoucement, my ranking would be DarKoaster = Drachen Spire > Holzfäller. The criteria for these two objectives are simply different, in my opinion.

Me. It sounds like the sad, small, old, weak, stiff, grandpa of the Big Bad Wolf.

... Oh. Nevermind. Carry on.

That said, just want to keep banging this drum alongside any criticism of GeisterWölf: GeisterWölf is still EONS better than the absolute linguistic, cultural, taste, and thematic travesty that is WölfsReign—a name so incredibly poor that I think it could reasonably justify offensive military action by the Germans. It's weapons-grade cringe and its very existence is a threat to Germany's reputation and place on the world stage.

/s obviously, but only slightly.

Did you get the offer?
I'm not at liberty to discuss. They made me sign an NDA after my coronation as King of BGW. So I can't talk about my plans to eliminate all maximum height restrictions and put B&M clamshell restraints on every coaster.

UPDATE: I've been relieved of my duties and they're putting a max height on Griffon to spite me

Wouldn't that be GeezerWölf? 🤣🤣
Fair enough though. I'm just thinking forward of actually having to refer to the ride by a name and I've sort of settled on that one being pretty okay lol

I think the biggest struggle is getting people to even say Wölfsturm correctly let alone them knowing what Volkssturm means.
People would be calling it WolfSTURM, WolfSTRUM, WolfSTURN, and WolfSTORM. Kids especially will not get it right. If it's a family ride it should be something they can read and pronounce easily.

I don't see why they are stuck on using German words, or at least making it look like Greman. Big Bad Wolf wasn't German. Just like how Loch Ness Monster and Apollo's Chariot don't really use names from their respective countries.
