Btw remind me how the hell the name Holzfaller is relevant to this ride? We literally had months to come up with a better name and already have evidence the park will take our suggestions if they are decent (Darkoaster, thank you Zachary) and we didn't come up with anything remotely useable so tbh I think we should just accept whatever the name ends up being and move on to bigger and better topics, i.e. where are they gonna place the next coaster which I would assume after 2 successive family coasters will be a big, bad thrill coaster?
*well that's another thread but spare us complaining about the name! You have your vote just like everyone else*

Tbh, I thought Holzfaller was creative; sure beats the Three Little Pigs

Holzfaller fit into the traditional Big Bad Wolf/little red riding hood narrative. Maybe it doesn't jump off the page as a final name for an amusement park ride but I thought it was clever and served well as a codename. Now that we have the curveball of werewolves mixed into the story. I don't think any of their suggested names or Holzfaller fit into the story they are trying to tell.

To me, as I said before, some form of wolf hunter (Wolfsjäger) or wolf hunt (Wolfsjagd) would fit better and can be phrased so that the villagers are hunting the wolf, or the wolf is hunting villagers. ... hunter wolf (Jäger Wolf)

I'll give you that it was a decent codename...and I commend the creativity on the part of coming up with it. Having said that, it was a lost opportunity from the get-go to influence the park's thinking on the name since the ride was always going to be about a certain Wolf. Not sure why anyone would think they would go in any other direction than that considering the nostalgia factor and being able to honor the Wolf's legacy and build on the lore, marketing to the public, etc. I'm pretty convinced at this point that ANY name the park came up with would have been met with derision by some around these parts...but at least it makes for some spirited conversation 😉

Holzfäller was about the story of a certain Wolf. The theming effort required to bridge the gap between "Holzfäller" and the Big Bad Wolf story is trivial. It's a direct reference to one of the biggest characters (and one of the most German characters) in the whole story. I think you're selling BGW short if you don't think they could communicate that Der Holzfäller is hunting the Big Bad Wolf. Hell, compare that to the likes of Verbolten. Verbolten is themed to a German autobahn tour company whose incestuous sibling owners have been investigating an array of mysterious happenings in the Black Forest.

Despite Verbolten's name being only tangentially related to the actual story, the lore was easily communicated by the attraction's queue when it opened. This idea that the name of a coaster has to directly include a word stating the core theme or no one will understand what is happening is preposterous.

It's also just patently absurd to critique a fansite for not magically managing to pick a name that fits BGW marketing's arbitrary requirements 9 months ahead of an announcement. Plus, if we were running a bespoke coaster naming consulting firm for BGW, trust me, we'd be cashing a paycheck.

I think they should name this ride "Der Wolf Coaster". It brings back nostalgia for the original, adds a German flair, and also inherently admits this is the generic, off brand replacement for the original. "Der Wolf" rolls off the tongue. Is it a great name? No. Is it perfectly fitting for the coaster? Yessiry Bob.

Anyway, I have no idea why you keep circling back to criticize a codename for a leaked coaster project from last year. It seems like you're just taking pot shots for the hell of it.
Just wanna point out that the queue video BBW had playing in the 90’s (and probably before, I just didn’t get to see it) absolutely included AT LEAST one woodsman running from the wolf (or the threat of the wolf? Whichever the case, it’s off-camera), so I think Holzfaller is an interesting and appropriate call-back.

Any word if there's on-board audio? Like the howling of a wolf, or maybe a fun, spooky instrumental soundtrack or something.

Rumors said yes initially, but since then Phoenix Rising's onboard audio has been plagued with issues, rarely functions, and can't be heard when it is, theoretically, working. Per multiple sources, those issues have caused BGW to second-guess audio on 2025. Doesn't mean it isn't happening, but last I knew there were ongoing discussions.

Well, off ride audio works wonderfully on nessie

My friend just rode Hollywood Dream at Universal Japan two days ago and he said he couldn't clearly hear his audio once the ride started down the drop but he could also hear some of the different music from the other riders around him. He found it odd that Rip Ride Rockit doesn't have this issue but Hollywood Dream does. Sounds like B&M needs to hire some top notch audio engineers.

EDIT: I was all for it until I realized Big Bear Mountains audio also has issues
When it works it works fantastically. I noticed most issues with it occur when it rains and it gets significantly unsynced or it doesn’t even turn on. The audio when it works is clear and loud.

I think that’s your friends personal problem. I rode it five times a month ago and never had issues hearing it

Never would I have thought I'd see someone calling B&M an off-brand. Granted, I'm not the biggest fan of B&M, but they're about the most on-brand brand in the coaster building business.
