If it's a new shell, could it be big enough to fit the Flight of Fear building in it? Of course, we're not Disney, and not even Cedar Point would go that far.

The Reeses triple towers are not nearly as fun or scary as KDs drop tower. Admittedly I only did the middle one (shorter line), but it seemed that being shot up in the air kind of ruins the drop sensation.

I'll be disappointed if Volcano is not replaced with a good coaster. Doesn't have to be like Volcano, but it's got to be a quality replacement.

I have ridden various drop towers and both Drop Zone at KD and the Tripple Tower at HP. I really could care less if I rode them again or not. However...I could see a certain amount of interest for something like combining all three rides. Imagine a tower as tall as Dropzone inside Volcano but you launch out of the top of the Volcant then stop at the top for a random amount of time betwen 10-15 seconds. Each time being random before dropping back to the groundinside the mountain.

OoooOOOoooo. I'd actually really like to see one of those. They can get rid of drop zone then.

I know it would be heracy to suggest that KD would ever get mediocre rides with gimmicks as a replacement for fun rides, but Falcon's Fury is one of the least forceful towers I've been on. The drop down does look intimidating, but I'm not sure how that would look with a less than stellar condition mountain.

Part of me thinks that KD would want to keep the front of the mountain intact for the whole season so it doesn't look like a giant mountain of crap. The only way I would see them taking it all down right now would be continuing their trend of taking it down from the back going forward.

As far as the expedition goes, it would be neat to leave some small sections of the mountain to go around and have a well themed ride almost like bbw was with its village.

The ONLY way I will be okay with Volcano being replaced with anything other than a coaster is if they somehow implement the mountain into the proposed flat ride/dark ride package.

And even then, I have a hard time believing that people will be okay with anything other than a coaster. It’s hard to please the general public these days.

I wish folks would stop obsessing about a non-existant regulation that a coaster removed must be replaced by another coaster. I am sure KD will be getting another coaster in the future. When, where, and what type TBD.

Heck, there is plenty of room in and behind the mountain footprint for a dark ride, a couple flats, and a coaster on the order of Copperhead Strike. Not saying all that would happen in one year and not saying KD will add yet another coaster there.

I think KD has too many coasters crammed into Safari Village as it is, even with Volcano gone. I hope, when KD adds another coaster, it will be placed in Old VA.

Would KD have built Timbers for 2018 if they didn't really want to have that lineup? Or did they expect Volcano to die any moment? I wouldn't be surprised if the plan was for last rides on Volcano this year, but seems like they really wanted at least a year of overlap, it would have gotten them more attention.

NEVER!!!! NOT POSSIBLE! The best.

An iconic coaster should be replaced with a worthy coaster. End of story.

I don't think @mwhinva is saying Volcano shouldn't be replaced with a coaster. A coaster that replaces Volcano in the lineup doesn't have to be located in the same place. Just like how Hypersonic was replaced with Dominator in the lineup, despite being located at opposite ends of the park.

At this point, the only thing I think we can reasonably infer from new sign is that the Safari Village theme is staying, which I'm happy about. I'd love to see what the park could do with the safari theme with Cedar Fair's new theming kick (like Copperhead Strike).

Maybe or wishful thinking they could always get a coaster like Hang Time, and you can do the straight up lift part to the top and have a drop and swerve in and out of the volcano. Also, maybe they can do like BGW did and still paid honor to BBW and have it have a certain element and that VBC did.

It would also be cool for a nice dark ride, that is a people eater and something unique about Volcano or an Expedition in the wilds of Africa. like Mt. Kilamanjaro

The Volcano spot is way better for a coaster than the Old Virginia spot beacaue of one thing: the possibility of another walk thru attraction. If they build something like at CP, I’d rather them put it in the Dino’s spot where they can keep the trees. The Safari Village plot will have basically no obstacles outside of space to a degree for a new coaster.

You reaaaaaally don't understand how theme parks and amusement parks work, do you?

Yeah I’d like to direct you to the reception to Delirium replacing Shockwave. It’s not pretty. And doing the same after Volcano would be 10x as bad.

Where in my post did I mention public reaction?

No where.

Where in your post did you argue my point that just because a theme park /should/ do something, it doesn't mean that they will.

No where.
