Maybe the Expedition is going to be "Return to the Lost World".

Personally, I am not placing any bets for the Volcano spot as the next new KD attraction for 2020. My guess is Old Virginia gets either a flat ride package (similar to what Carowinds received a couple years ago - rides would be unique to KD though) OR a scaled down version of "Forbidden Frontier" at Cedar Point. The 2020 dark horse would be the Water Park getting a new slide attraction or two.

I could see them putting in some new flat rides next season in the Volcano spot. That would allow them a quick turnaround with demolition and then construction.

Dear lord I hope not. Just a couple of flat rides on an empty plot is worse than just leaving it be.

I'm always for more flats being installed. Probably not the best follow up to Volcano's location though. The public would perceive that as replacing it with carnival rides (or the public would perceive nothing because most of them don't give a sh*t).

There also is precedent for it since KD has replaced Hypersonic and Shockwave for Flat Rides of questionable quality.

Once is coincidence.
Twice is happenstance.
Three times is intentional.

^^-- In each of those cases a new coaster was put somewhere else immediately after or shortly before, and the overall result was improvement and modernization.

I would prefer no flats there, but if must do then temporary is better!

Demolition news, back row of track and supports leading into the final drop is down.

What replaces it still depends/relates to what might get left, such as the queue including the entry ramp/rockwork, and quite likely the rockwork near Scrambler which is independent of the main mountain although a coaster support goes into it, maybe a few low bits of wall or more, we don't know until it happens. But not quite an empty field. They also seem to be preserving the trees that were inside the launch loop. Add some new bits as needed and it could have a good effect, look different from the rest of the park still.

As to a ride there, it's likely they're way ahead of us and already know generally or specifically what they're doing, even if it takes a while to happen. I waver between wanting a themed extreme launch as true replacement, or a meandering multi-launcher. The Hangtime-style coaster would have been cool if the volcano could have been reversed, if you could be hung over an amazing caldera effect and then dropped in...

Tbh, I’d be perfectly fine with a flat package in Volcano’s spot. There is way too many coasters in Safari.
I'd personally hate it, but it would make sense - be better for the park in the end - to have more family-friendly rides around Avalanche.

I can't get over this idea of a B&M Flyer going in that spot. But I know that's not happening. My guess is a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster if a coaster at all.

If any amusement park not named Disney or Universal gets a B&M Flyer I will eat a shoe.

They are the most expensive to build, maintain, and insure in B&M's lineup and carry physical safety risks that none of their other models do.

There are a number of parks not named Disney or Universal that have flyers. That being said I agree that of the rides that B&M currently makes they are not very likely to be built

Yes and they were built when the ride type was relatively new. Now that the industry as a whole has an idea of how they work (and I'm speaking of this from personal experience) it is incredibly unlikely any more get added in North America.
