Cedar Fair likely will also be adjusting the CapEx more into themeing and appearance of the parks, trying to ditch that bleached look their parks became famous in the past.

This is what I've heard from someone that knows some inner workings of CF. Apparently a big feedback was that people thought SF was better themed and they got TICKED. What they studied and saw was that, yes attractions bring people in, but quality food and appearance is what keeps people. I think I remember hearing that 1/10 people left the park to eat lunch/dinner and then returned. That's absolutely huge.

Which is why I asked earlier if we've ever seen a park get such a high chance at an unplanned retheme. This can honestly be a godsend for CF that they can 'blow up' the area to invest in this way without losing too much.

Honestly Safari Village needs a retheme so bad at this point. The only “Safari” themed ride is The Crypt and that ride is on the chopping block soon I’m sure as well. Also I guess Anaconda.

The teaser sign posted around the Volcano site makes me think the Safari Village theme is sticking around. BUT, given Cedar Fair’s outstanding efforts with theming lately, I could see them tremendously bolstering the African theme into something beautiful. They could turn the area into a genuine showcase of African customs and culture, as opposed to the stereotypical “tribal/voodoo” theme now.

Even though there are only a few attractions explicitly themed to Africa, I think people are underestimating how much the area is actually visually themed to Safari Village. The landscaping and architecture, from Congo Thrills to Inferno Funnel Cake to the Kilimanjaro waterfall, all are distinctly African in appearance. With some fresh paint, new signage, and new props landscaping here and there, I think the area could have a respectable, fresh take on the African experience.

Oh, and to revive a personal desire I’ve had for five years, this is their golden opportunity to retheme (or detheme) Backlot into something more African.

Based on what Cedar Fair has done with Blue Ridge Junction, the space around Kings Mills Antique Autos, Kings Island’s new International Street, and more, I think the possibilities to make a wonderful themed area out of Safari Village are endless.

A B&M invert an hour away from a B&M invert sounds like a bad idea.

I was going say "Dorney and either Hershey or Gadv" (Dorney got Talon despite Great Bear and Batman at those other respective parks), but Dorney to Hershey is slightly over an hour.
