This is Bush Gardens Ive been coming to this park ever scene i was a little kid. What they really need is a new roller coaster. Kings dominion is in the lead for roller coasters with there new ride Imtimidater 305. people will drive farther just to try new rides. ya 4D rides are cool but people wont go the extra mile for a 4D ride give them a new ride that they can see from that mile away. Biger the better get a taller faster an more adrenalin pumping rides.

Lets Go above the limits of roller coasters an go big. Hyper coasters are the most thrilling you dont know when its coming. lets beet king da cob in the worlds fastest an tallest roller coaster. Lets get that title of the records this is our chance to win that goal people will come all over the world just to ride this one ride. Lets do something new Lets go bigger, bader,an more thrilling rides for us riders. Thank You

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

ehheeeemm.... but... sloppy. We all know they won't do that for a VERRYY long time. Busch gardens is just not that kind of park. (Here comes a long statement)

Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia gets hearts pumping just as visitors make that turn on Busch Gardens Boulevard, where they are greeted by the 170 ft. tall mega coaster Apollo's Chariot, who's drop hits rock bottom down below where it can not be seen from the drive under the entrance, with its flags of the multiple countries this wonderful park presents. Once into the park, the sounds of shrieks from riders as they plummet down the Griffon, which once held the title for tallest and fastest dive coaster in the world, can be heard through the many trees, but cannot be seen, yet! Children make their way towards the play-oriented Sesame Street Forest of Fun, where their favorite characters greet them on rides, and a repeating show that puts a smile on each of their faces. Taking a mythical trip on the unique interlocked-looped monster, the Loch Ness Monster, can also be followed by a trip through Nessie's home country, Ireland. The Rhine river offers lovely quaint river rides, and also an embankment where three of the park's world-class coasters come together, for a show worth watching over and over. Then visitor's will actually want to RIDE these rides. Busch Gardens opens opportunities for people of varied age, and size, to ride their rides, and they don't try to scare them away with 400+ ft. tall giant roller coasters with impounding 100+ mph speeds. Plus, they don't intimidate people with too many rides to choose from, so visitors have a chance to choose their favorite ride, whether its Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot, Griffon, Loch Ness Monster, or even Grover's Alpine Express (someone better have some explaining to do if that's there favorite ride...;) ) People will mourn the lost of a great symbol in Busch Garden's history, the Big Bad Wolf, with its twists and turns that made it feel faster than it officially was. Plus that iconic drop towards the Rhine river, which should definitely be implemented into whatever darn thing takes its place. Bigger, badder and more thrilling was never apart of the Wolf, but in every way it thrilled. You can save that one for your inflatable girlfriend! (I don't mean that, its just a funny joke...:)) I hope you all like my statement, and good night, literally...:D

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

The fact is, Busch Gardens will build the biggest and baddest till the biggest and baddest is no longer fun. That is the key to Busch Gardens' success: A fun and enjoyable experience for all. In my opinion, rides like Intimidator 305, Top Thrill Dragster, and Kingda Ka just don't do that. They are either too short, too intimidating, or just plain painful. Intensity is good- but only to a certain extent. I don't know how many of you have been on i305 yet, but I, for one, have. Let me tell you, it is not a fun ride. If you have to brace yourself for every turn before it happens, the ride has problems. It is that simple. Apollo's Chariot is a smooth, graceful ride that still packs just the right amount of intensity. The same goes for Alpengeist.

[Insert fancy quote about smarts over size here. Sorry, I was going to have some dramatic ending, but couldn't think of a good quote.] ;)

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Really? Alpen hurts your neck? My legs will sometimes numb out, but I've never had any head-banking or neck-chopping on it. To each their own I guess.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

It only happens to me in the first and second rows. During the cobra roll and that sharp turn into the mcbr- the car really snaps into it and ur neck really hurts in the first and second rows for that because you're going in the fastest. At least, to me..

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I'm with you Swiftman. I know when to brace myself I suppose and I never have a problem on it. The Alpengeist is my favorite coaster at the park since the Wolf is gone. I love that ride no matter if I am in the front or back. It's all good.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I do hear your point on the mcbr, but the cobra is fine. And the mcbr can be dealt with. If you want to be real hardcore, try to marathon that.

My idea I sent to Busch Gardens was a Drop Tower. I told them that if they Built Greece (where Festa is and all the way Behind and connecting to Italy), that they call it "The Fall of Icarus" and the whole thing is covered with Grecian Mosaic tiles and the very top has a Glowing, beautifully themed sun at the top. The Ground Below would also be painted and tiled to go with the theme.

I also thought of having a really cool Maze in my "whole package plan" I signed sealed and delivered regarding Greece that would include a spooky "Menatour's Maze" - think of all the cool rides you could have from Greece - Medusa, Hercules, Zeus, Olympia, Hades, Chaos, I could go on and on... I STILL think my Parthenon enclosed (weather-proof) structure for eating and entertainment is a cool idea; being that the only place to eat in the rain is the Festhaus. (really - italy you are still getting pretty wet - and cold). Stores- I even came up with store names like "Pandora's Box" for Greek Gifts, "Gaia's Gifts" - an eco gift store, and Aphrodite's Ambrosia - where you can buy fruit smoothies and ice cream (mmmm... Baklava ice cream). ahhhhh- it would be so darn cool.. I have always wanted a "haunted River cruise"; if Busch created Greece and a boat port connection then they could somehow light the waterway (with a few creatures popping up from underneath the water) and even have a man dressed as Charon (the ferry man that carries the dead in Greek Mythology) that takes you to and from ports. Awesome.... and yet.......grrrr... because it will never happen.

Anyway, I digress.

I'm not a super-huge fan of Drop Towers either, but if the park did put one in; I thought that my idea would be a good for a theme.

I like your idea.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Just as things were getting quiet, Screamscape throws out some more rumors.

From Screamscape's BGW Page:
(7/11/10) Time to shake up the rumor mill… as we’ve been sent a new rumor about BGW’s next coaster project tentatively planned for 2012. According to our source the new coaster could actually come from a German company. I’m going to assume Schwartzkopf is still out of the picture, and they would likely avoid Maurer at this point given the troubles Universal has had with the Rockit coaster. This pretty much narrows things down to Mack and Gerstlauer. While Mack is mostly known for the Mouse coasters, they did make a big splash into the launched coaster market last year with Blue Fire, and their spinning coasters are very cool as well. Plus they have a long standing relationship with the Busch parks.
While Gerstlauer hasn’t been used by the former Busch parks yet, their impressive Eurofighter line of coasters (launched and vertical lift hill varieties) have already proven to be very adaptable to highly themed environments as seen with Dollywood’s Mystery Mine and Hansa Park’s Curse of Novgorod. A highly themed indoor/outdoor ride like this would be a great fit into BGW’s already impressive coaster collection.

I've always liked Eurofighters... My fingers are crossed. :)

This would fit with the "Coaster-Darkride Hybrid" rumors we've been hearing as well.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

An indoor/outdoor themed coaster is just what BGW needs! I don't think it would fit in the BBW area with the current terrain though, there would have to be some adjustments.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I don't think that it would be where BBW was. If the Drop Tower is, as I believe it is, going on top of the former BBW station, I think they will leave all of the trees where BBW was alone and this new coaster will go into Festhaus Park with a new country.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Hello all, this is my first post on the forums. I've read through this entire thread from the beginning as this is a very interesting topic for me. I am so very sad to say that I never got to experience the Big Bad Wolf before it was torn down. I remember very vividly the advertisements about the coaster when it was first introduced (I was only like 9) and my family would only visit Busch Gardens once during my childhood (for some reason we always ended up at KD, sorry, certainly not my preference any more). I feel like I've missed out on the best ride ever.
I can't say that I'm particularly thrilled about the drop tower idea, but it doesn't seem like that is going to be the "replacement" for BBW. I don't think anyone is even making suspended coasters anymore, but I would really love to see a new one go up in BBW's place. Maybe B&M might get into the market. Or, to take it up a notch. How about suspended flyer? Never seen one of those...:D

My mistake, I didn't look back to that page & missed the post. I deleted it as it was a big post. Please feel free to delete the replies.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Connecticut busch fan,

No worries. There is (including this one) only 320 posts on this topic.... an easy read....... you know, much like War and Peace; except with more roller coasters and less peace. ;)

At this time I am so lost as to what Busch Gardens have up their sleeves. Like you, I agree that I hope it is good and reminds me in some way of the BBW. If not, I fear I may have to start writing sad letters to the park once more. :s No one wants my emotional sad letters, trust me.
