RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf
I do know for sure it is not a plain drop tower. However, I know nothing of the name, the themeing, or anything else other than where it is going to be located. (Where the Katipult is located perhaps).
One thing I learned about Busch Gardens Williamsburg is how amazing their park planner is by both the location and placements of the big rides. After going to Tampa and flying down the first hill of Monetu, the view of a Subway and Pizza Hut was not one of the parks best views - why on Earth did they not face the ride's first hill towards the park? Duh!
The Griffon was placed to fall at the setting sun... which is fantabulous and the view of the James River is beautiful... heck, even seeing the brewery is pretty cool in a way. Sheikra (the Tampa parks sister Griffon coaster) all but blinded me going up the hill.. Oi! At least Sheikra was a great ride though... really nice. Look at all the other BGW coaster hills.. all faced a rather nice view. Left side parking lot aside on Apollo - the right side gets a great view of the park and the James River.
BTW- speaking of parking lots, Tampa's parking lots look like the aftermath of an atomic bomb.. hideous I tell ya! So very sad.
Also, keep in mind that the most iconic spot in the park with the Loch Ness Loops... the Alpengeist and the Griffon are beautifully set to enhance this photo op shot... with all the loops converging in an obvious pattern. Kudos to whoever did that. AAAND... BGW is KNOWN for their rides going with the terrain and not altering the terrain to fit the ride. Look at Alpengeist. If someone came to me and said here is the land I want you to design a coaster for... I would laugh and say "yeah right"... hilly, wooded, near feet away from an old Arrow Log Flume. But this was important for BGW to have a ride that is organic to the landscape - to enhance the beauty. (OK, not all of the additions have done this, but I would say at least the fair majority has.)
Therefore, my best guess for the drop ride, in addition to what Chris says... uses the terrain to their advantage. That the deep slope going down to the Rhine near the boat ride will be used in some way so that when you are approaching Germany from the Italy bridge you see something that just grows out of the landscape but not just juts out like a complete eyesore.
It is my best guess... but also a great hope that the beauty of the park is upheld and not destroyed.
