RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

That looks like a ride for a park in the mountains.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I just hope that whatever replaces it has some kind of honorable knod to Big Bad Wolf, whether it be in name or in some theming around the ride... I was born the year BBW was opened, I hated seeing it go!

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Rumor has it that we could be getting two coasters either at the same time, or very close together (not dueling). Apparently this was a project that was decided on years ago, but the sale pushed it back and the decision the park has been making since then is whether or not they will go with the original plan (to include a new country) or if they have to modify the plan and go with only one coaster.

Looks like we can count on at least one coaster for sure though.

Could you give me the reliability of the source?

Can't give a number on the reliability scale, this is coming from a third party. Could be a telephone game modification of an original rumor, but, it is someone that has a close connection to the park.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

That sounds reasonable. After all, planning for a coaster takes 4-5 years, and this is before it can be built. It was obviously started before the first sale. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I think that a wodden coaster would go great with Spain. Sort of an El Toro-ish theme. They could do GCI, but imo they need Intamin.

I don't like woodies, so my very biased preference is for the park not to get a woodie.

I like the reason for the woodie and like the idea of a terrain coaster going through the woods, but I'm all about B&M... the cost of growing up with Busch as my home park I guess.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I don't want a Woodie because of the noise. But if we got a Woodie, I'd want something from Gravity Group- the new trains look awesome. I'll be sure to tell you all how they are after I ride The Voyage this summer.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

A lot of people put BGW down because of the lack of a wooden coaster and flat rides, so that should be what BGW is focused on.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Someone is always going to put a good park down for something. Does IOA have a woodie? Nope. What about Disney World? No. Does BGT have a woodie? Yes. What do people think about it? They hate it.

I agree that BGW needs a few more well themed flats, but I woodie just wouldn't feel right at BGW in my opinion.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Gotta agree with Swiftman, I've made my biases known regarding woodies, but I don't really think BGW needs a woodie to be considered a good park. I think anyone that would put down BGW solely due to the lack of a woodie would find a way to put it down even if a woodie did go in.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I've come to agree with the decision that we don't need a woodie, however I really think BGW needs something, and soon. We rode Alpie, Griff and LNM, but not Apollo because of the lines. Those are really the only adult rides of any consequence. Granted, I like some of the ones in Italy and the swings, but my husband won't ride them. We aren't big into shows, other than the wolf show. Granted, now I could spend hours standing watching the sheep and Molly and Katie, and also standing at Wolf Valley. But that's about it. We shop, and that's great, but honestly, I'd say that we spend most of our time walking and waiting. I'm hoping some of the events they have planned for this season will bring more excitement to the park. I just hope they announce something soon.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

If they don't have something new to open in 2011, I think they might run into some problems...

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

BGT is getting a Intamin launch coaster that will have dark ride elements themed to a cheetah. BGW is not getting a woodie. The noise complaints from Kingsmill are already too much on nights of fireworks and concerts, so to see a wooden coaster....not going to happen. I stick by my source in saying that it will be a hybrid of sorts. Think Test Track at EPCOT, only completely different, with more story elements and themed to something around the area.....not to say that the area that you're thinking is going to be in the area that its in.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I think a highly themed unique attraction would be great for the park (even if not a traditional coaster), BGT can keep the launched Intamin, I don't want its twin in BGW.

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

Just wondering here, am I the only one who likes Premier Rides launch coasters more than Intamin launched coasters? I actually enjoyed Mr. Freeze at Six Flags St. Louis. I'm pretty sure the only reason for this is the lack of OTS restrains though...

RE: Replacement Project For Big Bad Wolf

I've only been on one launched coaster, Hulk... the Intamins could be the greatest experience in the world, but it's just too gimmicky to go out of my way to try out.

So, I can't give any insight into which designer makes better launched coasters. Can anyone else?
