I may just be beating the hornet's nest again, but I'm going to say it anyway. (Note, skip to the line below if you don't want to read my rant- I understand.)
Will someone who doesn't believe what was said at the orientation to be true just come out and say:
"I think the orientation instructors and the general manager of Busch Gardens lied to hundreds of employees about the 2012 coaster."
I have yet to hear anyone say anything like that. There are a bunch of people who continually beat around the bush trying to find an alternative way out. There isn't one. Either it's A or it's B. If it's not A, then it's B. If it's not B, then it's A. It's really that simple.
Personally, I think (and hope) that Busch Gardens didn't lie to multiple rooms (all?) of their new employees, and thus, I believe that we are getting the coaster described by the many people who have come forward publicly to all of us here on the forums as well as those who have come to me privately. If the park did lie, that, in my mind, is just deplorable.
Rant Over. Now on to something that can actually discussed.
Lance from Screamscape posted the following to his Twitter account today (@Screamscape) in reference to the 2012 coaster possibly being 300ft tall:
Mach Tower's permit is for a ride "not to exceed 260 ft above ground level". So I guess that gives us idea of what is allowed in that area.
Honestly, I can't believe that I hadn't thought of this before! The Mach Tower could of been Busch Gardens' way of testing how high they could go in that area! If the coaster dropped down near the Rhine River, I bet they could get a 300ft drop out of it. The land on each side of the bridge is about the same. If the board approved a 260ft tower before, why wouldn't they do it again? If what I'm now hearing comes after the first launch is correct (sorry, can't say anything) then it wouldn't take up much more space in the sky than the Mach Tower does. Now, why would they hold off so long? I bet they're waiting till it's too late for Kings Dominion to come up with something to compete with it for the 2012 season.
What do you all think?
