Apparently my mobile post didn't show up...
Anyways, Mach Tower was dropping about every two minutes. Every other time it rotated and it was at different speeds each time. I peeked over the construction fence and noticed they were using sand bags and were also bringing the car up about 15 feet at a fast rotation then letting it back down to the ground. The car started slowing down about halfway down and it was at a snail's pace about a quarter of the way down. There were three people operating the ride; one operating the controls, one monitoring the ride going up and down and another just watching. So it seems they're going through weight checks and a system test. More updates tomorrow and possibly a vid or two.

It sounds like Mach Tower will be open by Howl-O-Scream. That will also help draw in the crowds for the park.

I girl said this on BGW Facebook wall today and it would fit why they were doing this,

I heard that the motor for the Mach Tower was not powerful enough, that's why they haven't opened it yet. They were waiting for a new one. Apparently the old one could not lift the weight of an average person in every seat. True, I swear!
Oh, and I'm jealous. I haven't been in over a month!

Today at the parking plaza, they were handing out a summary about Mach Tower (see photo, sorry about quality). The summary states:
"Today, you may notice activity at our new attraction, Mach Tower. We are conducting manufacturer testing as we prepare for the ride's opening. As soon as all testing stages are complete, we will announce an opening date for Mach Tower. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to visit our Facebook and Twitter pages, or visit our website www.buschgardens.com/va for the latest information on the ride's opening. Thank You"
So, it sounds like they really don't have any idea when it will open.

Well, they must be doing them earlier the day until they run out. This the first time I've gotten one, and I've been going all summer, however, we don't get there until 6.

I was at the park today. Nothing too interesting, spinning and dropping on a normal basis. At about 4:20, We were sitting outside the pretzel shop taking a break from the sun. We were watching Mach Tower go through its normal cycle when what looked like a sand bag fell off/out of the ride. It was probably about 70 feet off the ground when it happened and it landed well within the fence. I dont think it's a big deal but just an observation. Obviously, the cycle was stopped as I assume they cleaned up the sandbag or checked for problems. I was wanted to ask the guy standing outside when it would open, just to see if the answer was 1-2 weeks =P

They had an employee in front of MT during the latter part of the day (from 5 pm on) and he was constantly telling guests the ride is going to open the Friday after next. Just saying he wasn't too confident after the 10th person asked.
There was no action during the evening and I peeked over the fence and the sandbags were off and nobody was in there. The gate was unlocked, though.

Yeah, I don't get one everytime. I think they just print a small batch at a time or something. Maybe they run out and don't print new ones for a few days?
