They didn't mention a base surrounding the bottom, but I'd still count on there being one. It rotates on the way to the top.

(but rotating on the way up)

Man, i guess there's no lower encasement, but did they announce what the special surprise at the top was???

A source told me that it would have vibrating seats. Could that be your surprise at the top?

I am really glad that it will spend so that you can see the whole park from such a marvelous view, where as at Kings Dominion it goes straight up and then straight down. I love drop towers, and I am glad that we will be seeing one at Busch Gardens. I know it will be wonderful. I can't wait to find out what the surprise is. I am already on edge :p.

Also the theory of the vibrating seats would be cool.

RE: Mäch Tower

My guess is that the "surprise" could be tilting the seats forward at the top. I forgot which tower it was, but I know there is one out there that does this.

I'm hoping they don't destroy too many trees with the whole renovation to Oktoberfest. That's one of the reasons I like that area.

That is a very nice shaded/relaxing area to the park. Oh, and I found this information on this site.

http://www.buschgardensvablog.com/coming-soon-drop-tower-new-water-slide-and-coaster

It states that it will have enhanced audio, and other special effects. I am thinking that this may just mean lighting, music, maybe vibrating seats, or something else.

I don't like drop towers so I have no excitement about the one coming to BGW. I kinda wish they would put the thing somewhere else, and not in my favorite part of the park! Oh well, the Oktoberfest I knew and loved went away with the Big Bad Wolf. :(

I do think a new area of the park would be better for Mach Tower too, but where else could it go. I mean Oktoberfest hasn't had much updating over the past few years, besides the removal of BBW. :/ I am kind of glad that they are adding it to the area, it is kind of a dead zone now without BBW. However, I don't think I am going to like the whole remodeling of Oktoberfest, or part of the area. You know? From the video it looks very fairish and that is just not what BGE is about.

I hope the area won't be over crowded with buildings and structures. I kinda think the pretzel shop/beer garden will be a neat addition. (Even with Busch no longer owning BGW maybe there will still be Busch products.) Hopefully the theming of the new area won't be too bright or tacky.

A topic that concerns me more is what will this new "multi-launch" coaster be? What will be the name, theming, and how will it compare to the Big Bad Wolf?

Busch left that for us to speculate for a year. Larry Giles kept up the "we won't tell you" attitude when asked questions about that today. But if it's launching, then I doubt it will have the "entire family" appeal that BBW had.

Not necessarily, Pony Express at Knott's and Powder Keg at SDC are a couple of family-friendly launchers, just to name some off the top of my head.

As for the tower, I hope the views will be great, because that is pretty much the only thing setting it apart from KD's tower, unless the "surprise" ends up being some fun new thing.

RE: Mäch Tower

Actually there is a huge difference.

Hint: Look at the other tower ride at the park.

RE: Mäch Tower

I took a look at the link that was posted on here and I read what they had to say about the tower...On the blog, the author calls it a "psychological thrill ride" so I would say that the seats tilting would be very possible :D
