So, I rode Carowinds' Hurler today.
GCI quite literally outdid themselves with the renovations they did to the first turn. Simply put, it's masterfully done. That first turn was even smoother than the turns on Evil Knievel when I rode it on its opening year (original GCI creation at SFSL). It truly is icy smooth. That said, the rest of the layout wasn't touched and is still, basically, absolute garbage. In all honesty though, the taste of a true, quality woodie that the first turn now provides just makes me even more bitter that we have to drive so incredibly far to get to a high-quality wooden coaster.
tl;dr: Turn is amazing. The rest of the ride is better used as firewood.
