On a side note, I’m going to HOS tomorrow and am trying to strategize a plan. Would the best plan of attack be start at DD, Frostbite, Vault, Dystopia, and then take on outdoor houses?

yes, what I would do is do DD and Frostbite then go to Vault because if the lime isn’t long for Lumberhack you can go straight from the Vault exit to the line for Lumberhack
I would recommend either doing Circo at the beginning or end of the event, because of the terrible line. I actually enjoy it at dusk, but I don’t think the sun sets early enough to do it at 6pm. Alternatively, an easy case could be made for skipping Circo altogether.
This was the observation that my wife and I had from attending last night, which was the first time we'd been to HOS. We were able to walk through each maze twice, except for Circo as there was a long line for the first time and we didn't think it was worth the wait for a second time through.
I'm hoping next year they put a house in BfE or find some real estate in New France/France so we can get some attention on the other side of the park. Tired of everything being in Oktoberfest and Italy.
Your plan is what I did last night. Do the four houses in the Oktoberfest area first then do the other two. However I decided to skip Circo last night. I didn't go last weekend but last night there were a ton a smoke machines working which helped the atmosphere especially after dark.

They should have a backup key just in case something like this happens.
The actors were good but poorly dispersed. I walked through a long section without seeing any.
Hands down the best maze tonight was demented dimensions. Close 2nd is dystopia and lumberhack is third but I only experienced it in the evening.
Went tonight. Did all the mazes except Frostbite.
1.) Lumberhack
2.) Dystopia
3.) Vault
4.) Circo
5.) Demented
They're all interchangeable aside from the top two IMHO. Pleasantly surprised with the mazes
