i completely understand that feeling, but honestly after this past year i'm a little worried about the quality of this coming year's houses. although i had a lot of fun with the vault and demented dimensions, all of the other mazes felt noticeably worse than in the past.
I'm not that excited for this year either. That's why I'm looking at Florida for Halloween this year.
I'm putting my money on them changing nothing and just removing stuff.
Hopefully the quality of what stays in will naturally improve when they have a higher staff concentration. But they will probably approach it from a business perspective and just higher fewer people. Because regardless on if the houses are good or not, they get the money.

I'd rather them not spend their "efforts" on many new attractions. Their attempt at a christmas light train attraction failed so hard, and it was supposed to be rather easy considering the train was closed for months, and all they had to do was setup lights.
Haunted Houses and Terror-tories are much more complex with many different details (lighting, audio, effects, animatronics, theming, etc.). I'd rather they spent an enormous amount of resources into a single attraction so that at least they get something half decent.

Well as Howl O Scream is concerned they need to tighten it because aside from the theming (which has never disappointed), some of the shows and a couple of haunted houses i was not at all impressed and while i did enjoy myself to a certain degree it was for definate lack luster show. Compred to preivious it felt that the effort put in didnt get the results thus i prepose for a better season is keep the number of houses to six (with a good balance mind you), reinvent the way territories run (cause its just not working), invest some actual care into the shows (man the Festhaus needs some love), lower the number of specialty bars by a couple (oversaturated makes it not as novel) and if you must keep the escape rooms make them more interesting ya know (put some scares in there its Halloween damn it! not an fing library!) and that would improve on what i believe is a solid foundation.

Let’s get this straight,2018 was a slack for this parks Halloween event,Howl-O-Scream has much potential for what it is,when the clock strikes 6:00,your entered into another world that isn’t familiar,truly one of my favorite Halloween events to go to.Now I brought people in the 2018 season and we’re not impressed by there 20 years event,mazes were all in one line,lumberjack,demented dimensions,cornered,Vault XX,Frostbite.They are all together,Dystopia and Circo sinistro are down a straight line,so in my opinion they all are in one place,2017 the maze layout was way better because the mazes were more scattered,not all guests will take the time to go through terror tories which really change the park in great ways,so if they scatter the mazes in different places then guests can experience terror-tories more.Another thing is Lack of scare actors,cmon BGW there are some mazes with gaps of no actors and it kills the feeling,some terror Tories are not filled enough,one terror Tory in specific,Fools court,great idea,but I felt like I was at six flags in upper Marlboro....(there fright fest sucked btw)but fools court needs more decorations and better lighting.But actors were great.I expected something better then Demon Street but I was dissatisfied.Demon street was probably the best place to be during HOS,it felt like you entered the pit of hell.Pick up your stuff HOS.Your ideas are very different from others.YOUR EVENT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL,YOU JUST NEED TO DO WHAT PEOPLE TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly they need to have normal park operations in the day and HOS at night. Running the show at Festhaus, Abbeystone and Globe during the day dilute the experience. Have everything start at 6, but the shows could start at say 5 that way by the tiem the show is let out the event is beginning. But...for me to go see Monster Stomp at 1 pm then back into the park for another couple hours or non HOS operation kills the vibe. I know people say its because if they dont you cant see it all in one night.....perfect that promots multipul visits and more cash for the park. In years past I feel like we could stop in the Festhaus during the last hour and see the show, often grab a dessert and the place wasnt as packed. This past season it seemed the last show was early in the night. Same thing this year with CT, Twas the Nights last show was much earlier than past years, that should be the night endeing highlight to hold people in the park.

Why don't you, the guest who prefers to watch shows during HOS operations, just not watch the shows during the day? It isn't like they force you to watch during the day. If you prefer to watch it at night, go for it. I prefer to watch at day, so I do that.
When HOS begain thats how it was. The "event" started after dusk, an anouncement was made and you got the feeling that you were in for a scary change in the park. Now theres an anouncement but really means nothing, some houses are already open, same shows have been running all day, you just dont get the feeling that you did back when there was a actual event start each day. I also think this blurrs the lines for families with kids and is part of the problem the park has where there are small kids in the houses. Is Fiends a kids show....no so why run it during the kid friendly portion of the day. Theres no reason that during the day they couldnt have a german band playing in the festhaus at specific times then after 5pm it changes over to the HOS show. The day band would literally only need a few chairs and such that is easily removed. I think this all day operation of HOS is the single biggest thing that makes HOS feel less intense.

I can't STAND haunted houses. I make sure I leave the park before 5 during HOS. But I adore the shows. They run the shows during the day for people that don't like haunted houses!
Are you saying no shows during the day for 2 months? It's not like you can have a different show during the day....
Did you not read my post? I said they could have a german band during the day at the festhaus. And no shows for two months.....the globe dosent have shows there the first couple months of each season nor does the abbeystone....day or night.
For me, even though the event doesn’t start until nighttime, HOS is and always has been an aura that takes over the park from the start of the day during the fall season. The crisp fall air, the changing leaves, and the park all dressed up in Halloween decor create a clear Halloween vibe well before the clock strikes six. For me, HOS is an all day ordeal, and being able to see the shows during the day puts me in the Halloween mood as the day builds up to the spooky stuff at night.
Howl-O-Scream has really sucked for a number of years now if you ask me. Being a bad Halloween event doesn't seem to impact the profitability or success of Howl-O-Scream though. It's the same story with Christmas Town. No matter how bad each event gets, BGW will continue to have the best Halloween and Christmas events in the area and, hence, will almost certainly continue to see success.
