I am going to go, likely multiple times and I know I will enjoy it. I always do to some degree, mainly because of the ambiance and the overall theme, but I my feelings about HOS are much like the theory of diminishing returns. Every year I am hoping for the same thing feeling I got my very first year and I am always disappointed.

I think I will go into this year with low expectations. Perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised.

They've finally updated us with official news for BGWHOS2019:

Fiends has been replaced with 'Jack is Back' located in Ireland -
A DISCO DANCE CELEBRATION
This year marks the return of Jack is Back, the popular street-style performance in the Ireland village starring Jack, a Howl-O-Scream icon who made his return last year in The Vault XX. Pumpkins, scarecrows and Jack himself pays park guests a visit in this disco dancing celebration.

A "'new" maze (just an updated version of the Vault) named The Vault: Overtaken -
ABOUT THE VAULT: OVERTAKEN
Jack has been released from the Vault! In his place you'll find new creatures from past Howl-O-Scream experiences like Igor, Freakenstein and the famous Fiends nurses taking over the haunts and instilling new fears on those who dare to enter. Also joining these new scares will be classic characters such as The Executioner from The Dark Tower; Dr. Rot; Meemaw from Cornered; Werewolf from Hunted; Georgie from Mr. Karver’s workshop; Giggles the Clown from Festa Dementia, plus many more past favorites! These dearly departed characters are dying to frighten guests again.

Cornered is no longer a maze. More updates soon.

I'm interested in seeing some of the old references in Vault though.

Dr. Rot? Like I figured nobody remembered him. He was just atomsphere acting. I remember his little path facade. I only saw it from a distance, so I don't know what it was all about.

So I'm interested to see what they do with it it.

Just a quick reminder that there’s an event in Doswell that hasn’t even officially announced their lineup yet, but I already know it’ll beat this one tenfold.

Not to mention that The Vault being “one year only” was blatant false advertising... Yikes.

The parents will be thrilled that Jack is Back. I never cared for that show. I was hoping for a new scare zones in Ireland or Oktoberfest.

The more I hear about this Jack is Back show, the more I don't care for it. Disco? Already the worst part of Night Beats and now a whole show dedicated to it with a pretty awful character. I'd rather see Scarlet's Revenge: Scarlet Knit's a Quilt in a Rocking Chair and Yells at the Kids on the Block.

I'd take medicore scares over riots any day.

Ah, I totally set myself up for that one...

Anyway, it may not seem this way, but I really do wish to see HOS do well as I think it would be really cool for Virginia to have two high-performing theme park Halloween events. What would be even cooler is if the BGW/KD “Roller Coaster wars” or whatever extended to their holiday events. Imagine what we could see if both events constantly try to outdo each other at Halloween and Christmas!

As for the riots, hopefully the spirit of Lockdown will, you know, stay inside the prison walls this year.

So the Fiends nurses are in the maze, and that's supposed to scare anyone how?

COASTER CREEPERS & HACK PACK
The creatures of the night are on the prowl … for an adrenaline rush. No place is safe during Howl-O-Scream—even the undead may be found queuing up at the hottest thrill rides and creeping along the walkways.

Hack Pack = Roaming Horde? The last time HOS did the roaming hordes I hardly saw them.

Also I noticed that the opening show (midnight hour?) Jack did last year was taken down. Jack will be too busy disco dancing.

I'm surprised some of these old terrortorries are still here. To me they should be around three years max. Ripper Row especially needs to be changed i think.
