The only reason I bring this up is because someone (either here or on FB) brought up the fact that the Grin SZ was really short and why they didn't move it farther into Festa. My mind is a little fuzzy on the back end of Festa since I hardly ever venture back there, but isn't there enough space back there for the SZ to take place while leaving the front half "calm" (which seems to be their MO this year).

There's plenty of space in the back for a SZ, and it would make it easier for those who want to avoid the SZ. It would also make the SZ more spread out and easier to move around in. The Festa bridge is large, but thinking about it with the props, actors and those of us who can barely move when we see a clown, I'd imagine that the bridge wouldn't be the greatest area to put the scarezone, especially since its the main entrance and exit of the area, with no means to getting around, save for the train. I can just imagine the congestion in that area.

Though thinking about it, the confined space is probably what they wanted so they could scare more people.

it wouldnt make sense to put it farther back into festa. it would get in the way of the rides and games, and putting a scare zone right on top of a maze would just be a waste. unlike other parks, it seems busch just wants to keep scarezones on paths away from the rides and attractions. widow makers and grin and scare it are the only two real exceptions.
Unfortunately the area its in now, sort of blocks the whole entrance way. Most people forget about using the train to enter, and you can only use the train if you're coming from the Scotland area to enter. If you wanted to avoid the scarezone and you're coming from Germany, you'd have to go all the way over to Scotland just to hop on a train and make your way back to Festa just to avoid it.

I think that the path between the snack bar by Apollo and teacups could be used as a scare zone.
I think this would be a more ideal location for the scarezone. Its easy enough to enter and exit Festa, and there's still a path where if you didn't want to go through the scarezone, you could still make it back towards that area.

Now the big question, was it any better than last year?

I would say as a whole it's about the same, some parts better some parts worse. I thought last year and this year both were great so I certainly left happy.

This year is better by far. Also, it wouldnt make sense to have a scarezone and a maze right on top of eachother. I believe busch wants to keep the scarezones out of the entrance ways of rides and attractions. widow makers is really the only one not off a path. That being said it really is only blocking trappers and a bunch of shops... but you know what, i think it almost defeats the purpose of a scarezone if they are completely off the paths. if you are in the park after six you should have to deal with the scarezones. if you arent going to busch for hos then why on earth would you stay after 6 anyways? its like going to christmas town and hating christmas...

Totally agree youhow, they're back to kind of restricting the scare zones this year after a decent effort last year in trying to make the whole park a scare zone. If you elect to be in the park come sun down you know what you're getting into... Let the whole park be a scare zone, or at least place them all on major paths.

If I'm imagining this correctly, seeing how I haven't been yet, having the scarezone where studiopzp suggested would only block the exit of the teacups, Jumpin Jupiter, and maybe the entrance to the water balloon arena (which is closed anyways), You would still have the entrances free for the Elephant Run, Trade Winds and Apollo's Chariot, not to mention its still a good distance away from Fear Fair. (again if I'm imagining this correctly, Fear Fair is behind Roman Rapids correct? Where Cursed was.)

And I agree that its weird that the sz seem to have alternative routes to take or are off the main path for the most part. Because I remember when the entire Festa Italia area was a scarezone. But, on the other hand, you still have those parents who don't take BG's warning seriously and still get upset if you scare their child. Which is probably why they put the scarezones where they did.

^I think blocking the only entrance/exit of the section is a bigger problem.Like I said before, sure you could take the train, but if you're coming from the Germany/San Marco direction you'd have to go all the way over to Scotland just to get on the train to back track into Festa.

I would much rather lose the arcade and an exit for the teacups than blocking the whole entrance/exit to the point where you have no choice but to walk through it if you want in or out.

Its not going to stop those parents who don't take the warning seriously.

I don't have a problem with where the scarezone is right now, I just think it could of been placed in a slightly better location, since its the only one that doesn't have an alternative walking path.

Personally I would of liked of seen the entire Festa Italia section as a scarezone like they did years ago. (And this is coming from somebody who's terrified of clowns)

The exit to the teacups can easily be walled off so the kids don't experience a scare. Also, taking a train for kids to ride two or three rides can be an issue. The route I suggested would solve a lot of problems. You'll lose the arcade, but I don't really see small children in there in the first place.

Oh man. I didn't intend for this to be a huge debate haha.

Completely agree with the idea that if you're in the park after 6 you're fair game- no question there. At the time of my post it just seemed strange that the park had gone through efforts to make alternate paths with the exception to Grin. However it had not occurred to me that none of the other scare zones are in front on ride or shop entrance/exits- and honestly i don't count Widow Makers as it's not contained in a very small area like the rest of the SZ's this year.

I actually agree with most of what Youhow has said- with the one exception being that putting the SZ in Festa farther back would put the house/SZ on top of the other (but honestly this can't be done unless you put it near the Teacups which creates the ride exit problem).

It seems that the Festa SZ would have been put somewhere better-- if a better place to put it existed. Of course with how Festa is designed (don't get me started) that's really not possible.

What happend to when the chainsaw guys would chase you and jump out? Are they scared of the kids getting scared? If so that makes no sense. Thats the parents fault for bringing their kids.

They were good last year but there were only 3! In one spot its dumb. They just need a lot more scare actors :)
