Pleasure Island was a cash cow but a hinderance for families going from West Side to Market Place and vice versa. There are other plans on the table for Disney to reintroduce "some" clubs.

Oyea so adult attraction means it has to be a strip club? LOL

It's called hyperbole, brother.

An aside: Pleasure Island was forced to open it's doors without a cover because of declining attendance. That opened a flow to teens, which destroyed the hoped-for gains of going "cover free." Then, the park's executives decided to close the nightclubs because of customer demand for more family-oriented options. Translation: the park realized it would make more money and attract a wider audience catering to families than it would catering to adults.

^Lesson for BG.

And in any case, even if it made the park two trillion dollars, I personally don't think it belongs there. Branding is everything, and Busch is a family brand. There's no need to start making adults-only areas, sections or attractions.

Sorry if it bothers you that someone could think that.

Which is why they are about to open up an establishment that is 21+ after 8pm.

Not the topic for this really, I know, but you're talking about two things when you talk about an adults-only atmosphere, whether it's at BG or WDW:

1 - Whether it will make money.
2 - Whether it belongs.

The massive adults-only complex that was Pleasure Island was closed. If it were a license to print money, it would have stayed open. Period. If they're going to open a nightclub again, they're thinking it will make money, but that's more because Disney is a destination vacation resort where entire families go for days and even weeks at a time. The RESORT operators are trying to offer a complete on-property vacation experience, and that includes (in their minds) adults-only faire. I expect it will do fairly well, but welcome to point #2...

Does it belong? No. Just because you can make money with something doesn't mean you should toss it into the wrong atmosphere. Lil' Wayne is a pretty popular rapper. Does that mean there should be a Lil' Wayne appreciation day/concert in the middle of Magic Kingdom? Don't be ridiculous. And before you complain (again) that this is an extreme example, understand that it's just made to illustrate a REASONABLE POINT that just because something could make money doesn't mean it should exist.

BG is NOT a resort destination, and as such does not require adult-entertainment options. People go there with their kids. The park actively attempts to attract a family audience. It would in no way, shape or form benefit their brand image or attendance in the long run to introduce adults-only options.

That is my opinion.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I think you are missing the entire point of what all of us were saying. We were saying that there should be ONE house with an age restriction to allow it to be more enjoyable to the ones who pay the ticket cost and not the one's whose parent pays the cost. That would be a HUGE hit.

Lil Wayne's clientele is not in Disney, if it was then you'd better bet he would be there. It is money.. Locals however are rather irate at the fact there are no clubs. That is the huge factor on why Hyperion Wharf has been stalled. Disney in a dilemma on what do with clubs and whether or not to put any of them in there. Several of the clubs pulled a HUGE local population that was stuck up and a turn off to the vacationers. That played the biggest factor into the loss of profits from those vacationing.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I would be in favor of an 18+ house if you were only able to buy tickets online. Being able to do that would be help to separate the people who really want to have a fun experience and those who want to get drunk and screw around. Granted this would have to be a house on par with Alone for it to have a chance to be successful.

Have at it. Because I would have no desire whatsoever to subject myself to the horrendous experience it would be.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I didn't mean a teenage only, I meant a 13 + house or somthing. Like seriously putting an age restrition is stupid and way selfish.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Although would be able to go into all of the houses with age restrictions, I think it would be a bad idea. BG would lose a lot of money too. It really depends on the kid; my younger brother went through his first HOS haunted house when he was 6 or 7 and though it was the coolest and best thing that ever happend to him.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

What would an 18+ househave in it? Dead strippers? , Killing prositutes?.
It wouldntmake since, if you have an 18+ house your still gonna have thoes people that are immature, and obnoxious just like mybrother. Clearly no point.

Thats what I was wondering.
If it is scarier than anything else leave it up to the parents to take kids through it.
Also require kids under 15 to have a parent with them in order to go through any house.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

18+ could go more extreme on the gore and scares. Like I said before, if you have an 18+ house with a registration system designed to only attract true scare fans (like Alone), you would weed out some of the crap people.

edit: The parent thing is part of the problem. When you have parents going through telling people not to scare the kids, that's worse than any teenager.

The parents should not take the kid through if they are going to ruin everyone elses fun like that. At least the teenagers are acting like they are having fun most of the time.

Wheather you are really scared or not you have to look like you are having fun so the actors feel like they are doing their job. It's kind of rude if you ignore all of the actors trying to do their job.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

*facepalm*

Let me say this first, I don't have kids. Based on observations from both in general and working one season at Land of the Dragons, I can tell you that a lot of parents don't even care or notice that when they try to make it so their kids have fun it effects other people. When they're at a park, their only mission is for their kids to have fun no matter who it screws over or what rules they break. I really hope a parent on here can confirm this theory. :p

Let me ask you this, if an actor isn't hiding very well and all he does poke his head out to growl at you, does that deserve a full scream? Do they even care if you scream or not? I also doubt a group of five or six 15 year old girls are concerned about hurting the actors' feelings.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I guess you guys are right. What BG needs is an 18+ haunted house that is too extreme for mere 16 year olds. While we're at it, I've got a few ideas:

1 - how about we add more profanity into the park's HoS advertising? Instead of some lame, kiddy crap about the Dark Side of the Gardens, we could say something like "[blank]ers getting [blanked] in the [blanking] head." I would have typed it all out, but all the little kids on this site are a bunch of [blanks].

2 - maybe we could change the name from the boring, juvenile Howl-O-Scream to something a little more adult, a little more scary, like maybe Howl-XXX-Treme! (the exclamation point is part of it). That way, guests [read:victims] would know that their Halloween festivities were about to go NC-17.

3 - Speaking of which, I don't know about you guys, but when I'm celebrating the holiday of playing dress-up, eating candy and believing in ghost stories, the last thing I want to see around are a bunch of goofy, immature little kids. Halloween is a man's game, son.

What do you guys think? (Don't answer me if you're a stupid little kid)

:p
