It may be a little early to speculate and everybody being in the Christmas spirit but Christmas Town has a 2011 thread so why not Howl-O-Scream 2011?

All news, rumors, new attractions, etc. can be posted here about Howl-O-Scream 2011. Will Scare is Everywhere be expanded or trashed? Will some of the shows return? What new mazes will there be? Start speculating here and you may just find out soon. ;)

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

A little early it just ended but i think they will keep the scare is everywhere theme.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The scare is everywhere is probably going... Too many complaints by DA parents with children. Some of the post I read on Busch's wall during that event disgusted me. People who believe the park should cater only to their children and not be scary for them, but fun and everyone else should just be SOL because "Their children have a ticket too, so they should get to stay the whole time" It's effing ridiculous... They need to do something SERIOUS about this. Go one way or the other. Be family friendly or TRULY put the scare everywhere... Not the lame attempt we saw this year... there was nothing truly terrifying walking through any of the "scare areas" and this is coming from a someone with mild arachnophobia... I dont think anyone got scared there... Only places I REALLY saw people getting scared were the random loudspeaker shrieks and the chainsaws. Every now and then a slider would get someone and the Gillie suits...

Yea, I'd be much happier with a Universal studios approach. fear the fear I say.

Well I agree with most of your post, I don't with this. Having been there everynight I saw MORE people running scared than those not. What one may not see as scary someone else might be terrified.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I think they need to do what MOST other parks do, tell parents that Howl-O-Scream is a PG-13 event and that if you have little kids they recommend that you leave the park (not make you leave but recommend it), this might also help out with the capacity problem, which I do not think Busch cared about because it got them alot more money. With little kids and their families at the park it makes it more crowded, so if the kids and thier families leave the park will be less crowded. Also if you are going to market a Halloween event as good as "The Scare Is Everywhere" than you need to live up to that. "The Scare Is Everywhere" is probably one of the best marketing slogans that I have ever seen, but if "The Scare Is Every Once In A While If You Get Lucky" than it kind of gets you all excieted for nothing.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I think another problem was that the forest of fun and land of the dragons closed around 8 so if parents did have little kids past that time were pretty much on their own they should atleast leave those open the whole time for those parents and their little kiddies who don't want to be scared but yet want to have a fun time

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Being as they reached capacity on three Saturdays in a row. I wouldn't expect any major changes. ("We did the best we could possibly do with attendance, but...how can we do more?") :p

Expand the park to hold more and expand the parking lot. Hopefully this oktoberfest expasion will cut the capacity a bit.

I don't know how many of you saw the Behind the Thrills post today but there was some interesting information/rumors up there about Howl-o-scream 2011. There is a possibility that BGT will not be doing HOS. Or at least not the way it has been. There's talk of it not being a separate ticketed event and being more family friendly. Conversely, there is also talk of BGW changing HOS to be a ticketed event and more intense. These are just rumors right now, But interesting nonetheless.

I was wondering why you put that link up until I got to the very bottom of the post. Disconcerting for people that are hoping the park would step up the scares. If anything it sounds like it will be reverting back to more family friendly than this season was. Obviously that rumor is about Tampa, but it would make sense that BGW would follow suit.

Sounds like a Blackstone cost cutting measure. They may be ceding Halloween to the Orlando parks.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Well this is interesting.....I doubt BGW would follow suit. HOS at BGW isn't a separate ticketed event and is in an entirely different market for things like this to apply to us even when the sister park is dealing with this issue. HOS at BGW is just too successful for it to be a cost cutting measure when in my eyes it makes money.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Well i heard that Blackstone is more focused on BGW that BGT and that there trying to make it the number one premier park of the east coast even better than disneyland, also Im not sure if its disney world or disneyland i always get em mixed up.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Less focus on Tampa sounds about right though. These are Rumors i hope are true...

better than disneyland,

You would mean Disney World. I am the biggest Disney "fanboi" on this site. Disney and Busch are two different types of parks. A full resort and a stand alone theme with completely different theming. It would take A LOT to overcome's Disney's business with BGW especially with not much draws to the area. Most people aren't drawn by the history that we have sadly.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Busch will never be able to take away from disneys popularity. But really the only reason that Disney World is so popular is because it's under the Disney name. BGW is easily better than any Disneyland or Magic Kingdom, it's just the Disney name and the nostalgia that make the parks so popular.

The only way that Busch could even come close to Disneys popularity is to make BGW a full resort with hotels, entertainment, dining, shopping and more parks, but that is very unlikely:(
