Unpopular opinion, but I thought the '90s Standups were B&M's most intense designs. I guess I found the right way to ride these- they're amongst my favorite coasters, and were a highlight to me at any park that had/has one. I flew out to visit GAdv back in September for Green Lantern after I read about it's removal rumors on this board. It was well worth it (and doubly so, with everything else that's transpired since then). I'm very bummed about losing this one (and again, doubly so now with the Kingda Ka news).

I hope the few Standups we have left manage to stick around- the Surf Coaster is fun, but it's an entirely different thing. With the remaining three all operating under the same umbrella now, I'm sadly not too optimistic.

Yeah I have riden three of these and honestly enjoyed all three. I don't know if I either have a magical just right fit or just have somehow accidentally stumbled on to a riding style that just works but I haven't ever had any of the issues so many others complain about.

You guys aren't alone. There is a mass opinion that stand-ups are just plain bad, and with so many people feeling that way it's clear that their mass appeal is pretty limited vs. other ride types. But the only stand-up I've ever had a bad experience on personally was janky-ass Shockwave. The B&Ms have always treated me very well. And while it has been a long time since I rode Riddler's Revenge, it in particular was an absolutely fantastic ride. Best of the bunch in my opinion, with Green Lantern more mid-tier but still more enjoyable than, say, almost any B&M floorless I have ridden. I'll miss it.

In general, I think body type and height are much bigger differentiators of ride experience on stand-ups than on most other ride types. And in weird ways, not the stereotypical big-vs-small trope.

I only rode once in 2011. I’ve never been a fan of standup coasters and I hope pipeline changes that. These rides really depend on the person honestly and that’s okay. I do not want more of them.

I, personally, don’t have any objections to Pipeline. It was wasn’t uncomfortable. It wasn’t particularly remarkable at all, in fact. Which is, I suppose, a good thing for a stand up.

I don’t like any of the B&M standups, but Mantis was for me especially awful. It is one of the three worst coaster experiences of my life.
I know I've said in the past that I don't really recall my Mantis experience, but I sure as hell hope Rougarou is the next coaster to leave Cedar Point. Even Green Lanturd never required me to take a break after riding for the sake of my own skull.

If Green Lantern really is at the end of its service life, Rougaro can’t be too far off right?

Not sure how the conversion and work done at that point would effect it's service life plus it hasn't been moved before like lantern.

I think we’re reaching a point in time where we’re finally going to start seeing defunct B&Ms, maybe not en masse just yet but probably a few a year. Regardless of whether things went the way they did this year or not, Green Lantern was the obvious choice for the next coaster to be removed at Great Adventure, as it’s old, relocated, and probably the most polarizing ride in the park.

I do hope this is the beginning of a heavy revitalization of the Boardwalk area. Even if they leave the old 4d building, considering that’s a large storage area within the park itself, removing the skycoaster and go karts would open up another decent chunk of land there, potentially for a front gate coaster.

In interesting news, the demotion permits for Green Lantern, Twister, and The Parachutes have been failed by Jackson Township for lacking proper electrical information. I guess they’ll have to resubmit.

BTW-- Hugh is a REALLY nice guy- I did his VIP tour both times he visited the park. What you can't see in those shots is there were horrible thunderstorms the whole time he was there so all rides were closed. They took the photos between the rain drops. The guys one either side of him were our GA security who accompany celebrity tours, and Kevin Wong who was one of the park's PR people. We were the only ones in the station and I REALLY didn't want to be in the picture so Kevin stepped in.

Very clear to me that they're planning something with the removal of Green Lantern, Twister, and the Parachute Drop. Those 3 rides were likely on the chopping block anyway but they open up a HUGE plot of land together with space for a significant expansion beyond just a coaster. I'm hoping for a whole new area of the park

I'd be down to see Lantern replaced with either a woodie like Bobcat at GE or a new kids area. With Rolling Thunder gone there hasn't really been a good stepping stone coaster that doesn't go upside down. There aren't really any good kids areas in the park either.

With all the thrill ride capacity the park just lost, I don't think family rides are a priority right now - unless a whole Boardwalk refresh with multiple rides are coming along with it. We can only hope.

Even with the thrill ride apocalypse happening Great Adventure never really had much that could qualify as an "inbetweener" ride between the kiddie stuff and the big rides. There definitely is a lot of room for the park to address both in the coming years.

Yeah, and I don’t think its gonna be a total lean towards one at the same time. I have ZERO insider info, nor have I ever gone to SFGADV, so my opinion is probably invalid, but with the mentioned problems along with the family coaster boom, id imagine it’d be almost a “back and forth sorta pendulum shift”. So like 2026: Ka replacement, then after that a family coaster and some other general improvements, then after that the next thrill coaster, and so on and so forth.
