Being moved once before likely hasn't helped it service life. It's also a model that B&M doesn't manufacture anymore. While I personally like the rides on these stands ups they are not popular with the general public and many have been converted to floorless.

All that said it probably hasn't actually reached the end of it's service life but is close enough not to justify the expense of relocating it and rebuilding especially if it also need a conversion to fit current market draw. I hate to see it go but understand why it's going.

Slipping supports and footers multiple times also did not help things.

Let's be real here, though. Moving a ride is still costly and I doubt it would have ever reopened as a standup ride (so there would be the added cost for floorless hardware and new trains). Because it closed late in the 2024 season, I doubt it would be able to be moved to another property and upgraded in time for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. Even based on the other upgrades done to Mantis/Vortex, I'm guessing these did not pan out well in the long-term and these rides are still low with ridership compared to brand-new builds.

The footprint is also large and flat, and I'm struggling to think of a park it could be placed in without some serious land grading work - I think they want to avoid parking lot coasters for now. Plus just being a 3 train B&M may be overkill for some of the smaller parks in the chain. Tearing it down is the right move.

I think a lot of people (not here, but definitely Reddit and Facebook given the reactions to seeing a B&M scrapped) are also forgetting that a lot of B&Ms are either approaching or are over 30 years old and scrapping some is inevitable. The unpopular ones are obviously the place to start, and Green Lantern was realistically always going to be the next coaster to leave Great Adventure, really don’t think any they’ve had a coaster aside from Viper that THAT many people hated.

Honestly I’d be shocked if Patriot and Rougarou aren’t gone too in the next couple years.

Although Rougaro is probably on the short list for the next coaster to be removed from Cedar Point, it most likely will be a while yet. They have the Snake River Falls and Sky Coaster plot to build out first.
Why does everyone forget about Flight Deck at California's Great America? It is unlikely that any coasters will be removed from CGA before the park closes; Assuming the park actually closes in the next few years. I have doubts that any coaster will get relocated from CGA.
This was one of the coasters that would run for HitP even though B&M’s aren’t designed to run in colder temperatures. Unlike the other four B&Ms in the park, this one is a ride model that’s no longer in production, so the extra wear and tear of running for an extended season and in harsher weather conditions affects it a lot more since unlike the other four B&Ms that have the option for replacement parts, Green Lantern has a more limited supply chain.

As far as I am aware, the cold temperatures do not cause more wear and tear. The main issue is the ride valleying due to running too slow. This is addressed by using harder tire compounds and thinner grease. Spare parts is not an issue for any B&M coaster. B&M usses a lot of off the shelf industrial components, and any custom part can be made in short order - including pieces of running rail.

Actually there were plans to relocate Flight Deck before the park closed. I'm not sure if that has changed since the merger....

Lots of clearance now. Only the station, lift hill, drop, and first loop are left.

These aerial pictures have been a tremendous indicator of progress. I wonder how much will still be standing this weekend.

What are they cooking?
