I think so... Talked with one of the engineers about it... said it was to see if they could stop at the measured spot then start again... they couldn't get it up the hill

It's important to note that's only the green train. From what I have gathered, the other two can do it just fine.
Is this the holdup on declaring the fourth station? If so, wouldn't it be nice if they just have the green train skip the Germany station while making sure to announce that to the passengers? Seems an easy fix to me.

I don't know much or well anything on trains, but couldn't they just tune up the engine? Or something to give it more power? Less weight or something?

How about turning the trains around and running the circuit in the opposite direction? Then trains would approach and depart the new station on a downhill grade instead of uphill.

Signaling would have to be changed... signs repainted... trains turned, which isn't trivial... someone who knows more about the park's setup may have more to say about the idea and how feasible it is. To me it sounds like a promising way to manage the situation, given the luxury of not actually having to do it myself.

Though the devil is always in the details.

Well that just shifts the include to whatever section of the track is currently a decline. Anyone know what section that is and whether or not it's steeper than the current incline in Festhaus Park? It's times like these when I wish the railroad tour was still around.

It seems like the track is pretty flat from the Rhine River trestle to the Caribou train station to me. If there is an incline or decline, it has to minimal.

I think the current decline right now(I'm not to sure) would be the section between Tweedside Station, and Festa Italia station. After all the tracks go from being 2 feet above the walkway at Pompeii, and 15 feet below the walkway at the Festa Italia bridge. I may be wrong but there has to be some what a decline between those two stations, and I think it is actually steeper than the other hill at the old Drachen Fire station.

I have GPS info via GOOGLE TRACKS on this which includes elevations. Will look it up ASAP.

Here it is:

This graph starts and ends at Tweedside Station in Scotland.
First pin is Festa Station in Festa Italia.
Second pin is Caribou Station in New France.
I don't know how exact it is, but it should give you a general idea of the elevation changes.

Looks like Festa would be uphill all the way through (approach, station, departure) if run in the opposite direction. And the approach to Scotland looks like a real challenge.

But if the plot starts and ends in Scotland, something is wrong. The extreme right and left hand sides of the plot should be in close agreement on elevation. There must be some portion of the plot not shown there; the circuit must be more than 1.5 miles around.
