I enjoy New France quite a bit. I think a conversion to Switzerland is a bad idea only because I find it an unremarkable mix of Germany and France. Granted, it's all a matter of opinion so there is no right or wrong. And don't get me wrong, Switzerland is a scenic place. That being said, their food and beer offerings are boring, they've only had a modest influence to the States, and the only things I instantly think of when I think of Switzerland are skiing and St. Bernards.

So in thinking about the Hamlets as they are now, I don't think New France needs re-tooling, especially into a Swiss setting. I think a Festa make-over is far more of a priority. But adding an additional Hamlet on new ground is probably my favorite idea.

I think the obvious choice regardless is Spain, and a cool outlier idea would be New Spain (again, matter of opinion but if the park did it properly, people would LOVE it). Another Country I think would do very nicely in the mix is Belgium (JUST BASED ON THE BEER SELECTION ALONE). And I noticed some people brought up Greece which could be very cool, as well.

They can leave Trappers as it is w/a Spanish makeover. They wouldn't turn it into a "Casa de Fritos" Disneyland type of place, although the food there isn't bad either. :)

As far as Le Scoot goes, they'd just rename it to "El Scoot" :) hehehe

So...to recap...

Retheme New France to something else...but don't remove the logging theme so as not to disturb the flume...and don't mess with the outdoorsy, rough-and-tumble BBQ place, because we like it.

So, essentially, change the look of the hamlet and then leave the only attractions untouched in a frontier theme.

I've got a bad feeling about this :)

I think if you took New France and just made it into "The New World" you'd be better off. We are, after all, in Williamsburg, VA -- ground zero for the English colonization of North America. A subtle (and non-violent) representation of 17th century Virginia frontier would work alright, and if you don't explicitly state that this is "Virginia" and instead leave it generic, there's plenty of room for basically everything that already exists in the hamlet. You really only need new signage and a few details to pull this off.

Beavers are sneaky bastards. Stopping up the rivers, hiding in their dams. Chewing up all of the trees in the woods and all.
You know that old stupid saying "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?" Blame a beaver. These varmints can really do some damage. I'm OK with calling it the New World, though.

Actually, there ARE beavers within the park grounds. They just do a good job of busting up the work the beavers do so parkgoers don't see it. There was once an incident of a beaver cutting a tree down that crashed into the Loch Ness Monster a long time ago...can't remember when.

Honestly, Switzerland is very famous for their chocolate and cheese I believe, one or the other maybe? It really is an experience all its own and to be perfectly fair, most countries have stereotypes or distinguishing features that can be played off of, what they create the mot of, what they export, their most popular events in history, etc.

It can really work out well. Still not like the New Spain idea :dodgy: and I especially don't like the idea of seeing New France turn into some form of Spain  It just ain't right I tell ya!

^ Smoked cheese.

It's good. But compared to what Trappers offers now? Yeah. Keep the cheese.

I would really hate to see New France turn into Spain. Hate. Spain only makes sense to me if it's bridged to Italy directly.

(If you told me last week I'd be making multiple arguments over a rumored Hamlet change at BG, I'd have called you a liar)

If we didn't care so much about what countries can offer in terms of themeing the only thing we'd really know about Switzerland is Swiss Cheese (and ONLY that), Swiss Army Knives, Swiss Bank Accounts, and Swiss Neutrality. Oh and the Geneva Convention.

Honestly if we're to recreate Switzerland as a Hamlet, it'll have to be by the water or themed to the alps (aka alpengeist's territory). We could name that area of water in question Lake Constance, since it is apart of the Rhine River. The hamlet could have architecture similar to Basel, which looks pretty ace in my opinion:

The best area to plop this down (at least in my eyes) is right around where we rumored for the resort complex to go, you know the boneyard area. Hey that'd be a pretty slick get up, a hotel themed to a brand new hamlet all in one area that conveniently fits to our rumors from 2 years ago. A second stop to the boat tour would also be cool, but I don't think they do boat trips up the Rhine.

So with the IPO finally complete and the park taking in so much money from selling stocks, do you think we will see a more active off season coming up? Better stuff for 2014?

I think now that they are on the market, they will get their next five year plan into action. Resort, full-year, two dark rides, new country, etc. on the move!

I'm not sure, it sounded like the IPO was a way to pay back a lot of money to Blackstone initially. I hope they use the money to pay back some debts from their recent growth first, then they could expand again. They have been putting A LOT of money into Seaworld Orlando lately.
