Is the resort canceled? do you have any idea whats going on with that PR?

Where do you think they are getting the money for the resort and other additions ;) Patience is a virtue young grasshopper.

I expect to see the IPO finished by Howl-o-Scream, hopefully no later than Christmas Town so they can prep for these major additions. However, I will say that we might be in for a very boring off season next season and a very bland year next year as far as changes go if the IPO isn't finished soon. This is my biggest fear.

^But isn't the Globe being renovated and a new show going in it?

That is not AS expensive as a all new resort or dark rides. It is much more feasible to get by with that; sadly I think this England renovation next year may not end with just a new show; but let us see how things play out for now.

Yes, Globe renovation is moving forward as planned. It's not that big of a project and the show has already been deep into production for a very long time now. Like Party Rocker though, I wouldn't hold my breathe for any other major additions in 2014.

In reading over a lot of the threads, I see Spain is a recurring theme (with a lot of appeal and approval) for the new Country to be named.

As much as I love Spain (been there 3 times), I think a more compelling addition would be...

NEW SPAIN

Yeah. I said it. If New France (read: Canada) is allowed in the park, I think our Spanish-influenced territorial neighbors to the South deserve some love.

Just leave now.

But seriously, New France I can let fly BUT Mexico oh no! It has absolutely nothing to do with Pre-Industrial Europe at all! I would hope and like to think a lot of the forums members agree with me, but I'll be a lone ranger if I have to :p New France has some ties and is just a naturally fitting theme. Mexico stands out like a sore thumb and would confuse a lot of people even more!

Let me preface my forwarding argument by saying, I grew up in San Diego, and I thought I knew what Mexico was. I've spent weeks on end in Baja for hiking expeditions and surfing.

I was in Mexico DF (Mexico City, as we call it) last September playing in a concert with some friends and quite honestly, being there shattered my ideas of what I thought of Mexican culture and the Spanish influence on the early Colonies in Central America. And just as New France fits, but it doesn't, but it does - I assure you, a New Spain region is a better idea than you would initially think. Especially if Spain is on the table to begin with.

I like this. I think it goes right along with the "out with the old" streak that the park has recently been exhibiting.

Why have Old Spain when you can have NEW SPAIN!!!!???? It's better than old. It's new.

I can see it now.

Spain HAS to be the next hamlet in the park. It's inevitable. And having grown up in the San Diego area along w/Reggae guy....I have to agree. If you ever go to San Diego & visit Balboa Park, there's a tourist area there called the Gaslamp Quarter & with it is a very authentic recreation of old town San Diego. It is VERY similar to New France at BG, but with stucco instead of mere wood siding. It is Spain as it was before the Medieval days, and would fit perfectly with the decor and theming of BG in general.

Plus as I said, the food would be amazingly good. No Taco Bell fare here. And imagine the ride theming that could be made from it...It wouldn't be just a renaming of an existing area like Ireland is. Let's call a spade a spade. There are far more Spanish speakers in and around Virginia then there are French speaking ones. To give them a familiar feel for "back home" wherever in the Spanish speaking world that is, would only add to the success of this park, imho.

Weren't you the one that said Alpengeist would fit New France more than Rhinefeld?

- This whole "pre-industrial' concept was thrown out the window decades ago. No point in keeping it alive. As people have mentioned before, pre-industrial worked in certain hamlets as they represented different time periods.

- Bring on Spain! That hamlet is LONG overdue at this point. Matador/running of the bulls roller coaster, dark ride, and a few small flats here and there would be perfect for the park. Maybe stick it behind the Festhaus since that area is pretty much never used nowadays.

I honestly think we will see New France become something else entirely and we will finally be ride of our non-European hamlet. I can confirm that BEC was planning on rethemeing New France before the In-Bev buyout. I don't know if SWP&E will go with the same concept that BEC had, but I am certain that they will do something to this hamlet on the future.

I'm thinking a retheme of New France and Festa followed by (either a year or two after) the completely new country...granted Festa isn't converted to the new country.

Why do people think New France needs a re-theme. First of all it was one of the original Hamlets. It has a major water ride, and If they re-theme New France then you might as well say good buy to Trapper's. Which is probably considered one of the top 2 best restaurants in the park if not #1. So why don't we just leave it alone, because if they ever do re-theme it, a lot of people will be very mad, and I'm gonna tell you "I told you so."

If they do it right they'll be able to keep the charm and the rides everyone enjoys about the hamlet.

Its Canada, not Europe

So can a Swiss themes area, the same one even, just change its name

BGW knows its possible, you can have it in a swiss themed area still. [/quote]

No because of what I said about Trappers staying...

I specifically reject the idea of NEW Spain. I am fine and can handle pain old Spain, it is a very nice theme; but I refuse to have a New Spain especially when there isn't even a regular Spain in the park to begin with. At least with New France you also have France.

Also, retheming New France to something like Switzerland wouldn't be very hard and they can keep most everything just rename and retheme everything :p

I guess if New France is rethemed does that mean Le Catapult changes its location again, not physically but by the new name of the hamlet :p
