Me on Jungle Limits: Flight of Fear next year.

Might be in the minority, but I hope we don’t loose the sci-fi theme. Jungle X-Pedition is cool and all but at this rate it’s going to swallow up over half the coasters in the park. 6 coasters (4 officially, and 2 most likely coming when they retheme Backlot and update/replace Anaconda) out of 10 (not counting kiddie coasters) just feels excessive for a whole land.

I’d rather see us get a version of what KI got and had it be a separate mini land. It also feels weird to change I305 to pantherian while we have anaconda and backlot likely unchanged for the next season. I get it’s due to the rights over the name, but they could have just kept the project 305 until they were ready…

We're at least a minority of 2

I like the SF theme, but they need to spruce it up a lot. The station now looks good, but the queue stuff looks dilapidated.
It's been many years since I last rode it. Isn't the ride just pitch black once launched? Some elements like rock & roller coaster had would be nice....

They lit up the aliens in colored light in the station. I think it was actually a pretty nice improvement. But the rest is just dimmly lit and looks dirty and/or broken

Best way to do this is create the idea that you've stumbled upon an alien craft crash-landing scenario in the jungle and we as the riders are here to decipher the reason/whereabouts of the inhabitants. Leave most of the "dirty, old effects" and "jungle" that up with vines, ferns, steam effects, etc. add a soundtrack, some paint to that big white building and Viola. - 2026 has a another new freshened attraction.

Name can be adjusted accordingly, specific to a "Zone/X-Factor/Extraterrestrial Conquest" etc. Could be neat!

Am I missing something? Is FOF's sci-fi theme really that great? The "alien" theme begins and ends with a fiberglass UFO prop in the queue, that little plexiglass alien spaceship window before the station, and some old Haunt alien costumes slapped onto some department store mannequins. Everything else (the facade, the trains, the tubes in the station, etc.) could easily be modified to fit a different theme.

It's like suggesting that Twisted Timbers should never be rethemed because of the truck in the queue and the suspended tractor before the station.

I certainly can't fault someone for liking the alien theme and wanting it to stay, but I feel like we're getting a little ahead of ourselves in talking up how extensive FOF's alien theme is.

Part of its nostalgia, but the other aspect is it’s a theme you don’t see in the area for theme parks.

However, six flags great adventure, Busch gardens Tampa, animal kingdom, magic kingdom, Kings Island, holiday world (water park does but close enough), and worlds of fun all have jungle themed rides. It’s a much more common theme.

It definitely needs an update and needs it soon, but to what end will KD go when they have I believe now all the animal sigils on the thing represented. They still need to incorporate anaconda, backlot, and FoF to the theme. If anything should turn into a temple its backlot and make it a jungle jeep ride.

At the end of the day I ask, is the Jungle X theme really that great? I’ll concede to a hidden military base in the jungle, but it’s unique locally in its current state that can be elevated with some TLC that would be cheaper than a total retheme.

The current ride theming legitimately creates a sense of angst and nervousness, particularly for those who have never ridden it before. Not sure that's worth messing with too much.

It's not that I think what is there is good - it isn't for the most part - it's that I like aliens on earth as a theme. They need to improve it a whole hell of a lot, though. Also I always liked the disappearing riders. So whatever it ends up as, somehow that still needs to make sense for it.

Totally agree with you on this. FOF uses white noise and creates a sense of apprehension better than pretty much any other ride I can think of.

That said, I’d argue that effect can still exist, if done right, independently of the alien theme.

I think a lot of Flight of Fears praise at KD comes from what it used to be.

If Kings Dominion cared about Flight of Fear the same way that Kings Island cares about theirs (theming, audio, lighting, pre-show, etc) I’d be a bit more impartial to a retheme.

A single individual pushed like crazy for the recent love given to our FOF’s station. It wasn’t really something KD was jumping up and down to get done in the off season. They certainly gave him and the team that helped some praise, but really it was just fixing old stuff that broke. Replacing light bulbs. A ton of stuff is still broke or inoperable.

That alone makes me think that the FOF theme as we know it isn’t here to stay for the long term. I’d feel different if literally anything else got some love in the past off season. But it didn’t, and unless something happens this off season to change that or the 2025 additions absolutely flop, FOF is very much on the table for a retheme, and for good reason IMO.

For me a key issue is the difference between a themed ride and a ride that is part of a themed area. The former is something you may find in an amusement park and I'm not opposed to it, if the alternative is no theming at all.

The hallmark of a true theme park, however, is that is it made up conprehensively themed areas. The rides, stores, restaurants, paths, etc all work together to tell a single "story."

So, for me whether or not the alien theming is good is largely beside the point. I want the entire area to fit in the Jungle-X universe as part of a section-wide theme.

I think it could blend well with the explanation that they found it swallowed by strange vines and plant life. Imagine the vines of verbolten but everywhere. Maybe some exploration teams went missing and the search for them found this base. Maybe make it so some of the plant life shudders and moves like something is in there, something that escaped. Then you can really lean into that for Halloween Haunt for a scare zone. It can work with Jungle X but I’d rather see a total facelift for anaconda or backlot over flight of fear. Especially since it took three years to even get pantherian and Rapterra going.

I also just hate ancient aliens in general so don’t want that. The show is a joke and all anyone is going to want to know is when is the meet and greet with the crazy hair meme guy. I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum, just a big ick for me.

During Haunt, this thing looked like it's become the ride the masses line up for after the demise of Volcano. The ride everyone knows about, for what that's worth. It's also an old LIM coaster that will probably need major work to continue many years. Heavy retheming may not be justified; theming restoration is relatively trivial. And while it may clash against Jungle X, the jungle theme doesn't clash against Flight of Fear. There is also some seperation due to being indoors.
