I really hope they don’t try to work the aliens into the Jungle X lore. Jungle X has an incredibly in-depth, well thought out backstory dealing with a wayward explorer, an archeological discovery team, and a mystical ancient civilization. Shoehorning aliens into that story, all for the sake of forcing FOF’s alien theme to fit the lore, would strike me as lazy and disingenuous, and it would cheapen the whole Jungle X backstory to me.

Id agree if this wasn’t theming over half the coasters in the park to one theme. I’m in the anger and denial phase over pantherrian still as I think they should have given i305 the Orion treatment and just rethemed backlot to the panther theme with FoF and I305 being its only small themed area. So long as they don’t try and suddenly make dominator fit in the jungle X theme I’ll live. Not EVERYTHING needs to be jungle themed.

I fully recognize I’m in the “old man yelling at sky” phase, I guess it’s cause we didn’t do KD a lot when I was younger and the 90s and early 2000s era of the park is super nostalgic for me because a trip to KD was special.

On an unrelated note, I wonder if they will one day either replace the launch or even replace all the track with a new layout with a similar spaghetti bowl style? Maybe a Mack extreme spinner?

I think an Area 72 style wouldn't work for KD like it does for KI. While Area 72 is only accessible by walking through Coney Mall (equivalent to Candy Apple Grove), that area is not a dead end like Jungle X. Since Jungle X is a dead end of the park, you have to trek all the way to the back of the area to get to FOF and Pantherrian. It wouldn't flow right unless major alterations are made to that area, showing finite ends to the jungle theme and the beginning of space. And even then, it might feel like space in the jungle.

I know, it’s just my denial brain trying to bargain with reality.

It’s not that I don’t like jungle X-Pedition. It’s possible whatever they do will be better. The thing I can think to relate is losing Jaws The Ride at Universal to Diagonale Alley. Is Diagon Alley great? Yes. Was Jaws the Ride still one of my favorite rides? Yes. Not quite the same because we don’t know if they’re gonna replace FoF due to its outdated system or just retheme it.

One thing I think we can all agree on is anaconda needs to be replaced before FoF does if they go the replacement route for it.

Shucks get rid of the alien aspect and do a journey into the earth type of theme. I think that would be something people could latch onto and make it tie in well.

As long as S&S keeps making parts relatively inexpensive (incoming proposed tariffs on foreign materials will likely cause issues everywhere, so not sure if they're a factor here), I don't see it going anywhere for awhile unless there's any major structural issues found.

FoF has higher forces and requires more electrical and data-related costs to operate, so it's not hard to think it's gonna go first.

Realistically, it's probably not going to be service life over redevelopment desires that dooms either ride.

Anaconda also eats crowds and has a higher rider count despite the bad reviews amongst enthusiasts.

I been wondering, if paramount never sold the parks, those that meant the jungle x pedition area would have been Indiana Jones themed instead and flight of fear would been rethemed to kingdom of the crystal skull or that would been unlikely since Indiana jones licensing only applies to disney like the marvel contract

in either way, I could see flight of fear retheme taking notes from Indiana jones: kingdom of the crystal skull but its would be better than that movie

Disney I believe had the theme park rights to Indiana Jones even back then.

Since it's indoors and dark, FoF has the potential to be just about any theme. It's more a question of will SF want to spend the cash on doing the retheme.

The existing rethemes were fairly light: a new coat of paint, new train art, some props in the queue. Due to all the existing theming, FoF would require more substantial retheming. They'd have to redo the building exterior some, queue line theming, station theming, and probably a fresh coat of paint in the exit area.

Off the top of my head, I do have a couple of non-alien themes that would make sense in the area, such as a bat flying around in the dark or a snake wrapping itself around tree branches deep within jungle canopy,

I can personally see a path where they keep the sci-fi theme but make it fit in the area decently well. I'd rather a whole retheme, though. We'll see!

Honestly, if this and backlot are both converted, I think the park loses something- That's way too many coasters with a jungle theme at one park. Tumbli, Reptillian, Anaconda, Rapterra, Flight of Fear, and Backlot. That's just too much, to me. I love the attention the park is getting, but i think Jungle X might have grown to be too much. I get that this sis probably an unpopular opinion though.

I’d be inclined to agree if Backlot’s theme didn’t suck ass. Anything would be an improvement over the theme of “gravel, shipping containers, and faded billboards.” Plus, I do think there’s significant value in all the attractions within Jungle X fitting the theme; otherwise the immersion is incomplete.

That said, I’d hope to see some creative variety with the two potentially non-temple themed coasters, FOF and Backlot. I’d love for FOF to maintain its sci-fi theme with some play on the Whey Foundation research laboratory, and Backlot likewise could play around with some other underutilized aspect of the Whey Foundation lore, like the dig site. Just because these two rides would fit the jungle theme aesthetically and canonically, doesn’t mean we can’t get some different “flavors” of the jungle theme beyond just temples.

If the area wasn't a dead end and I305 looped back around somewhere, I'd bet they would've given KD its own Area 72. But having a themed area that's only accessible through another themed area is dumb. The dead end put them into a corner (ha).
