I agree but pass members should be able to use our passes since we have been paying for 4 months with no use but force members to make a reservation
Pass members and membership holders have both been paying for the record.
If this partial reopening happens, expect reservations to be mandatory for all.
I’m not sure this would be so great. You’d be using your full priced membership to get access to a very limited portion of the park with severe capacity restrictions.
I’d like to get value from my memberships, but it better be at something close to the whole park experience, otherwise further extensions or partial refunds need to be in order.
The logistics of that would be a nightmare. Two specific issues with that are those on EZ Pay that are beyond 12 month commitment and have been paying all along, and BGW pass members that have used their passes at the Florida parks in the interim.The simple answer here is your pass activates the first time you use it. ?
So I saw the screenshot of the search field on Facebook but I have to ask how long has that been there? It could be a hold over from getting ready assuming Phase 3 would have allowed them to home.
Drove past the park this morning and there is a noticeable uptick I'm activity. Most notably there appears to be a significant screening area being setup in front of the ticket booths. By the handicap parking. They have cones out exiting the tent area in at least two lines off in different directions appearing to me to be an effort to split the line and increase distancing. I personally wonder if they might be scrapping the trams and having people walk up the tram way to keep people spread out but that is a guess.
Didn't somebody else report there was a setup a few weeks ago or more has been added to what was already reported?
FYI - Trams are being used in Tampa with distancing, so not sure why they wouldn't be used here.
At the low capacity levels they could just use the nearby parking lots to accommodate everyone, so there wouldn't be needs for the trams. If they every get to a more reasonable capacity with social distancing, the tram lines may become problematic if they have to go every other row.
Almost all parking at BGT is across the street. They can barely fit anyone into the lot on the park side of the road. For BGW even if they went to 5000 people they will still comfortably fit in the England and France lots and not need trams. Honestly I would expect trams to not operate for quite a while. We would need to get to something in the 10-15k range before trams would be needed.
As long as they stay below 1k, they shouldn't need approval. It's a risky move for sure—the VA Department of Heath could change the rules at any moment a la Ocean Breeze—but it'll be interesting to see if they're daring enough to give it a shot.
Because, technically, they have permission to open currently. As long as they enforce physical distancing and mask policies, they're allowed the 1000 people like any other venue. The state basically can't stop them provided we aren't rolled back to Phase 2 (which is technically on the table, of course).
There's definitely an element of chicken here that gives me considerable pause. If I had to speculate, BGW's feeling is that their best argument for being able to open at a higher capacity is demonstrating their ability to operate safely within the current restrictions, and being "spun up" enough to be able to reopen at a higher capacity quickly if and when they have the green light to do so. It's a deeply optimistic approach that runs contrary to the current numbers (VA got added to the NY/NJ/CT self-quarantine list yesterday after all), but it's clear at this point that the approach of the major chains is that they would rather be open in a limited capacity than closed. This is BGW's version of that, it would seem.
The tent area has been setup for a while but I have not noticed the cones and lines outside of the tent before. On top of that there were a few vehicles and people moving around in that area looking like they were prepping it. One line he as is off toward the regular parking tram stop and thr other off toward the overflow lot tram.
Nothing appears to be prep for screening on the England side everything is up at the top of the hill by the tram stops and handicap parking. I can not see hor the effectively route traffic from England up the hill without exposing screened guests to unscreened and am guessing that there will be no England parking.
They could set up another screening area near the pet kennel/bus waiting area in the England lot. You'd then have the two entrance areas merging just before bag check, so the question is, would the potential increased crowding after the merge be worth the splitting up of parking and screening into two separate areas.
