Even though I didn't ask the original question I appreciate all the responses since I will also be going for the first time.  We are planning on going in Monday the 18th.  Schools are still in session and being a weeknight what are the crowd levels expected to be.  Will we still need to plan on arriving 30 minutes before all the shows or will it be significantly better than the weekends?  I know weather will play some role but just trying to plan our day.

It should be better but it's still likely to be moderately crowed given that it's 1 week before Christmas I don't think you will need the full 30 minute window for shows but I would still suggest a 10-15 minute windowm to make sure that you get decent seats. Also That might be a night with just 2 shows of Twas the night if so expect that to be some what busy. Also if you are planning on eating dinner at either DTH or the new shows give yourself extra time as the y usally run only a few registers on the less packed nights and the lines can still back up.

One other word of advice is that the best seats for Twas the Night are center a right after the upper and lower isle brek you want to be able to see the roof easily.

I used to say weekdays in that first full week that Christmas Town is open are the best days to go. I've done that a couple of times and the park has has smaller crowds than they do on a normal weekday during the summer. I'd suspect the new dynamic pricing has evened things out a bit. Please report back and let us know.

As we have explained in our recent main page post, BGW is using a slightly modified version of the dynamic pricing structure they introduced last year for Christmas Town tickets.  Once again, I plan to track the daily ticket prices in an attempt to estimate likely crowd levels.

I'm not sure how accurate a predictor dated ticket sales will be, and I am not confident in current numbers, because Christmas is still over a month away.  Nonetheless, I wanted to provide my current analysis, as a loose guide.

It is critical that you read the methodology and caveats below, if you want to use the attached sales calendar to help you pick dates to visit the park.

What the colors mean:
1. The current prices are colored, based on the park's crowd level projections.  Green numbers all started as $15/$25 tickets; yellow were $20/$30; and red started as $25/$35.  We can infer that BGW expects Green Number days to be the lightest, and Red Number days to be the heaviest.

2. The table cells are shaded based on the influence we believe dated ticket sales have had on likely crowd levels SO FAR.  As more people buy tickets, these colors may change. Yellow shaded cells are currently on track to be heavier days than Green.  We have not assessed any Red days yet.

Caveats:
1. Sales are continuing, and current Green shaded days could easily turn Yellow or Red.

2. There are some days, which have historically been very crowded that do not yet have a lot of ticket sales.

3. Thus far, sales seem to be primarily clustered towards the beginning of the event.  I anticipate more sales for the last few weeks, as those dates get closer.

4.  I cannot predict the affect of passes and undated tickets on the crowd levels.  That is why I am still tracking the original prediction in addition to the ticket sales. I believe the park's initial pricing took into account predicted crowd levels, including pass members and undated ticket holders.

How to Interpret the Calendar:
1. I recommend taking into account both the Number Color and Cell Shading, when picking which days to go to CT.

2. The number under the current cost represents how much the price has increased in response to sales, since the Flash Sale ended.  So, +5 means the ticket now costs $5 more than when it first became available (excluding the $10 increase immediately after the Flash Sale).

3. Based on current data, from lightest to heaviest:
a. Green/Green (Green Number/Green Shading)
b. Yellow/Green (Yellow Number/Green Shading)
c. Green/Yellow (Green Number/Yellow Shading)
d. Red/Yellow (Red Number/Yellow Shading)

MRS. CLAUS TO HOST FAMILY VOLUNTEER WORKSHOP AT BUSCH GARDENS® WILLIAMSBURG

Learn the importance of Community and Giving Back During the Holiday Season

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia (Nov. 13, 2017) – In honor of World Kindness Day today, Mrs. Claus and her elves are on a mission to make Christmas BRIGHT with big and small gestures. Throughout the holidays, she will share volunteer ideas for families to do together.

To help with the charge, Mrs. Claus will be hosting a free Family Volunteer Workshop at Das Festhaus on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots. The workshop will include volunteer stations along with raffles, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and hot cocoa. To participate in this event, please R.S.V.P. online prior to Thursday, Nov. 30. Space is limited.

“The volunteer workshop is a wonderful opportunity to teach everyone the importance of giving back,” Mrs. Claus said. “I’m so honored to be able to host this worthwhile event that fits perfectly in the Christmas season.”

Mrs. Claus also will be hosting a Facebook Live series to share volunteer ideas for families and tips to survive the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Join Mrs. Claus Live @BuschGardensVA Facebook at 8 p.m. each Wednesday during Christmas Town, starting Nov. 15.

Giving back to the local community is important to the Busch Gardens family. Each year, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA Team Members rally together in support of numerous local organizations and community outreach programs located throughout Coastal Virginia.

Have you volunteered your time recently? Busch Gardens is asking the local community to log their volunteer time and report those hours back to the theme park. The goal is to collect 5,000 volunteer hours in November and December. If the goal is met, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA will donate 5,000 hours of community outreach in 2018.

For a list of volunteer ideas to make someone’s Christmas bright this year, please visit www.christmastown.com/giveback. Remember to log your volunteer hours.

IMPORTANT PARK ENTRY INFORMATION – Limited space available on a first-come, first-served basis. Collected information will not be shared or sold to third parties. Busch Gardens® Christmas Town™ will be closed to the public Dec. 5. Paid admission is not required and event will only be held in Das Festhaus. Other areas of the park will be closed. Family Volunteer Workshop participants will be required to R.S.V.P. online for entry. Access to the park will be closed and participants will be requested to show I.D. and parking pass at toll plaza. Event details to be sent via email after R.S.V.P. is received. Visit www.christmastown.com/giveback for details regarding the logging of volunteer hours and the Family Volunteer Workshop.

TV station WVEC Ch 13 just had a feature on Christmas Town preparations. It was pretty neat seeing some shots of the work being done of the behind the scenes stuff. They mentioned this year that total lights are 8.3mil and they use like 25 miles of cable (probably length of all of the light strands and power cords) and the tree in San Marco that's completely done in yellow takes three weeks to decorate. Chances are they'll have the story on their website.

Last year even though the park advertised a 2pm opening, would open early some days. Do you think they will continue that this year?

Likely. They usally look at how the traffic is backing up an if its starts to get to bad try tonopen early. So it will largely depend on the crowds.

I wonder if the park will be lit up for the walk from Festhaus to the exit, as it will be dark by 7:30.

I was invited to a special grand opening party for Verbolten on a night when the park was closed to the public. They had everyone park in the employee lot and had us take a tram which let us out next to the Festhaus, near where the Cornered maze is located. I suspect they would do this again rather than have people walking through an entire closed park.

I have updated the Something Not Entirely Unlike a Crowd Calendar.

I am not very confident in my Red Shading, since we don't have on the ground experience to compare with the prices yet this year.  So, I might end up estimating downward after this weekend.

As a reminder, here is the information on how to interpret the color-coding.  The most important thing to remember is that the color of the numbers reflects the park's crowd predictions, while the cell shading is based on dated ticket sales.

We have now added Red, as well.

Caveats:

That is why I am still tracking the original prediction in addition to the ticket sales. d. Red/Yellow (Red Number/Yellow Shading)
e. Red/Red (Red Number/Yellow Shading)

Can anybody tell me how to purchase multiple Christmas Town Fun Cards with the discount of being a current season passholder? On the pass member website, it is only letting me purchase a single card for only one of my passes. How can I do this for my remaining three passes?

Any help is hugely appreciated. Apologies if this issue has already been addressed elsewhere.
