Someone messaged BGWFans about the video CastleOSullivan posted earlier today and I realized something: We have covered everything new the park mentioned in the promo video (bigger Santa's Workshop and the show) with the exception of one: "Rudolph's Movie Experience."

With that in mind, time to spoil it. ;)

From what I've been told, the plan is to convert the old Countdown to Christmas (read: 3 Point Challenge) area adjacent to the entrance of Holiday Hills into a drive-in theater-themed area with large screen playing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

If executed well, I could see being a big fan of this change. The Countdown to Christmas display was really dull and uninteresting most of the time. Thematically, it always felt like pretty worthless filler when taken in the context of the larger Holiday Hills area as well. A drive-in theater should fit the aesthetic of the area quite nicely.

BGW buried this announcement is a reply to a CT post on their FB page.  I haven't seen an email, and I don't know if it is anywhere else:

Meanwhile, I don't think anyone has seen a pass member pass announcement, have they?

This is also in an E-Mail I received today. Will try to cut and paste shortly.

Edit: can't get images to transfer out of my E-mail.

Text only version coming below.

Does provide some more information on the Rudolph Movie Showings.

Well, on the CT site, Miracles has been replaced with Gift of Harmony.

RIP Miracles.  My daughter, who took ballet for 10 years, is very disappointed.  Not that she thought Miracles was great choreography, but that she loves holiday themed ballet.  If they had replaced it with a whole new ballet, she'd be excited for the change.

Upon reading the description, her comment was, "Great, Deck the Halls without the instruments."

My thought was that the Carolers they have in front of Big Ben may be a bit redundant now.

We received this press release from the park.  I think it captures most of the same information.

I did notice these key data points, however:
  • Current Annual Pass Members can buy a $39 Christmas Town Pass, which includes benefits such as parking and in-park discounts.
  • A Christmas Town Fun Card will be $49 this year.
  • Undated Single-Day Tickets will also be $49.
  • Prices for Dated Single-Day Tickets will vary by day, presumably similar to how Christmas Town tickets were handled last year.
  • Special introductory pricing will be available for five days, starting on November 2nd.

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia (Oct. 18, 2017) – Family fun during the Christmas season often revolves around colorful light displays, visits with Santa Claus, great food, delicious hot chocolate and festive music. These holiday traditions come to life in splendid beauty at Busch Gardens® Christmas Town™.

The annual Christmas celebration starts Nov. 24 and runs select days through Jan. 1, 2018. This year’s event is bigger and better than ever with a roomier home for Santa, an all-new show called Gift of Harmony™ and delicious new culinary offerings. Plus there are more lights than ever—more than 8 million across the park—giving Christmas Town the most lights of any holiday event in North America.

“Traditions are important during the holiday season, and we’re grateful so many families have made Busch Gardens Christmas Town a part of their annual celebrations,” Busch Gardens President David Cromwell said. “Every year, we add great new features while staying true to the many elements guests have grown to love about this one-of-a-kind event.”

The World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park becomes a holiday wonderland full of Christmas fun for guests of all ages. Those looking for thrills are in for a treat as InvadR™, Busch Gardens’ new wooden roller coaster, and Verbolten® will be open to ride, along with 22 other rides.

This year, Santa Claus has found a new workshop. The larger home is located in the castle made popular by the Curse of DarKastle ride and allows for more children to meet jolly ol’ St. Nick, take pictures and drop off their Christmas wish lists.

“As a father of young children, I understand what a big deal it is to visit Santa,” Cromwell said. “We truly believe our Santa experience is the best anywhere around, and we have made changes this year to make sure families don’t have to wait as long.”

Christmas Town has added a new offering to its array of yuletide shows. Gift of Harmony™ features a modern a cappella sound with stunning and complex vocals performed by a group of talented singers. The musical set will include traditional Christmas songs and some newer holiday favorites.

Beloved Christmas character Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™ returns to Busch Gardens with friends Clarice, Yukon Cornelius, Bumble and Sam the Snowman. Guests can meet and have their pictures taken with the loveable characters at Rudolph’s Winter Wonderland in Holiday Hills™ and enjoy a new production of the television classic at the new Rudolph’s Movie Experience.

Sesame Street® Forest of Fun™ also will be all decked out for the holidays. Guests can meet their favorite Sesame Street characters, including Abby Cadabby, Elmo and Cookie Monster, and capture a special holiday photo. Families can ride Grover’s Alpine Express and take time for some Christmas shopping at Abby Cadabby’s Treasure Trove.

For those who visit Christmas Town to sample culinary delights, a trip to the new cookie shop in the Germany village is a must. Cookies, beverages and a heated seating area will be available here.

Christmas Town offers an assortment of special dining experiences, including Dine with Rudolph and Friends, a buffet luncheon featuring a carving station, pasta and salad bar, kid-friendly foods and other holiday favorites.

There’s also Santa’s Fireside Feast, where Santa recounts a classic Christmas story while elves prepare a scrumptious all-you-can-eat buffet and Mrs. Claus dazzles the dining room with holiday cheer. Children are able to visit Santa and get that all-important photograph as part of the experience.

Busch Gardens is open 2 - 10 p.m. on regularly scheduled Christmas Town operating days from Nov. 24 through New Year’s Day.

Enjoy unlimited visits during this year’s event by purchasing a Christmas Town Fun Card for $49, which is the price of a one-day general admission ticket. Current Annual Pass Members can buy a $39 Christmas Town Pass, which includes benefits such as parking and in-park discounts.

Single-day tickets will be available starting Nov. 2 with a five-day introductory sale offering the best prices of the season on one-day tickets. Prices will increase after the sale period and will vary by day throughout the event.

For complete details on events, ticket information and operating schedule, please visit www.christmastown.com/va.

I noticed this in the above email:

"For those who visit Christmas Town to sample culinary delights, a trip to the new cookie shop in the Germany village is a must. Cookies, beverages and a heated seating area will be available here."

Does this mean the location that had Santa will now be the heated seated area and will the old candy shop re-open, or are they going to use the old soft serve station?

So right now on the Pass Member Site you can purchase what I consider a "pre-sale".

One day tickets, $24.50 can be used any single day during Christmas Town.

Christmas Town Pass, $39.00.

Anyone have any more information on this "Sale Event" Nov 2-6? No real concrete information exists at to what pricing will be other than "access to the lowest prices of the season"

Is this "event" pass member exclusive or did everyone on the E-mail list get it? Seems like now might be the time to jump on the single day tickets, but at the same time don't really know what the November sale details will be.

Any information is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Last Thursday, BGWFans emailed BGW Margeting with several questions about the CT ticket prices this year. We did ask a specific question about how long the discounted pass member tickets and passes would be available. We will publish the answers if/when we hear back.

That said to answer a few of your questions...

- The sale was included in the press release I posted above, so presumably it is for everyone.
- I could be wrong, but our impression was that the undated pass member tickets will be more expensive than the sale tickets, which I expect to be tied to a specific day.

Additionally, I noticed information on the web site that I didn’t see in the press release:

This year, 1-Park and 2-Park Pass Members receive $35 off Single-Day Tickets while Platinum Pass Members receive $40 off for visiting friends and relatives. There's so many exciting things planned for 2017 that you'll want your friends and family to share in the fun.

Members save 50% on Christmas Town Single-Day Tickets for yourself plus you can extend the offer to your friends and family. These tickets are for any one-day admission between Nov. 24, 2017 – Jan. 1, 2018. Members may purchase up to six tickets. Please note that these tickets do not include parking.

We spoke with BGW marketing about CT ticket sales on Monday. Here is the article on their updated dynamic pricing structure. There is also information on the undated ticket and CT pass options.

Please let me know, if you have any additional questions.

Will parking still be free for annual pass holders?

According to Dan, pass members will receive all of their normal benefits with the obvious exception of admission to the park, itself. So, we should still be able to get free parking and our regular discounts.

I guess Zachary is right, and I should share all of the additional questions we had answered, when we interviewed Dan and Ron.  So, here is a mini-FAQ.

1. Is BGW planning to run any discounts on the pass member CT Pass, as they have in the past?  Could pass member price go up?

The prices for pass member passes and tickets will remain the same throughout the event.

2. How long will the pass member CT Pass be available?

The CT Pass will be available through the end of the event.

3. Will the dated tickets guarantee entry on the ticketed date?

Yes.

4. Will pass members still receive their regular benefits (free parking, discounts, etc), even if they purchase single day or dated tickets?

Yes.

5. Can dated tickets be used on a different day, if the guest is willing to pay the difference between the original price and the current price?

Yes.  What will really happen is that the old ticket will be refunded and the guest will buy the new ticket.

I just wanted to thank all the folks in this forum for posting information about Christmas Town. I love visiting Christmas Town with my family, and I enjoy reading this forum throughout the year.  I just noticed that the 2017 Christmas Town map has been posted on the official website.  Does the map reveal any more surprises that weren't already mentioned in this forum?
