Last year there was two million lights and this year will be five million lights (according to the newsletter)

I bet they'll open Festa and/or FoF to put in all those lights. Hopefully more for the train, too

I've just been contacted by a trusted source who can confirm that DarKastle will not be open for this year's Christmas Town. Why? Well before Christmas Town started, the DarKastle maintenance team used the off-season to completely disassemble and reassemble all of the ride vehicles and fix any problems they found before they became more serious. In the past few years, they haven't had the time required to conduct this task which has resulted in lower capacity and more downtime for the ride during the park's normal operating season. I'm assuming that this same situation is what will be keeping Griffon grounded during this year's Christmas Town as well. Alpengeist seems like a much better fit anyway though.

TL;DR: Alpengeist instead of Griffon and no DarKastle at this year's CT.

Also, first year there were a million lights. Second year was two million lights and the addition of Italy to hold them. This year with an additional three million lights they need a place to put them. When I went in August they only had one side loading on DarKastle. No DarKastle for CT is fine by me if it can run it's best during the regular season.

Having a ride rotation for CT makes a lot of sense considering the things stated above...but I am hesitant to say Griffon won't be part of the line up yet since it has been the main ride attraction for CT...and the tear down for Griffon is a lot less extensive than DK so I would think in the time they have from January to March would be enough time. I could be wrong.

Well I noticed they advertised Mach tower on the site as it dropping.

Also the Ice Palace: A Penguin Paradise is coming back this year (Last year it wasn't named that but it is like the first year of CT)

The ride list is less than ideal, but I realize that rides have never been a strong point for Christmastown. That being said, leaving the Catapult or Tradewinds open couldn't hurt that much either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like on the CT park map, where ever there is a pine tree with lights in it like in the woods, a new attractions comes there the next year, like Festa Italia is lit up on the 10 park map so I'm thinking it will be open for Ctown this year.

Interesting thought. If this were true then one could argue for the Sesame Street Forest of Fun being open as well as there are lit trees in that area of the map.

Anybody else notice that on Mach Tower's description, it lists that it's going to drop, not just an observation tower as suggested?

I had a previous post about that. Wonder which it will be. I sorta want to have some thrill at CT, because can you imagine the wait time to get on? I thought the flight of lights had a bad line but this would have 2 time as many people in line since it would take so long.

I asked about Mach Tower during the Q&A yesterday. Mr. Lum said that they're looking at normal operation during the day and an observation mode at night. There was no mention of Christmas Town during the presentation either besides that question, so I don' t think we're looking at too much new this year.

to be fair there should be a few new things. Rejoice is being replaced, alpengeist is open and mach tower as well.

Exactly. I doubt they would put twice as many lights on the already lit buildings because not only would it look gawdy but it could be a fire hazard. So I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet to assume either Festa or the Forest of Fun will be open this year. Or both.

Yeah, they could make the train like that one Christmas light display that people drive through in Newport News park. That would be really cool, actually.
