Say what you want about Tempesto as a ride, but man, Apollo looked so much more graceful looming alone over the trees like that.
If memory serves me correctly, you need four people to operate Apollo. Controls, two on the loading side, and on the exit side. I did notice what looked a foot pedal at the post on the loader side for the back row. That would have been nice to have when the ride first opened.
I thought 3, additional positions can be selectively added or removed from the main control panel?
it might be three. i would have to see the exit position again. Unless the control panel has been changed out I don't recall removing a safety feature an option.
I'm guessing this goes into the Apollo thread, but I thought I saw a light ops day where they had the main board op, and an op to load/unload on each side of the platform.
There's an additional 2 load/unload positions not being filled (forwards vs back rows) in that configuration, which if they have a dispatch button would have to be disabled so that the controls aren't looking for a confirmation from an op position that isn't being filled.
So with the old system (again, I believe they did an upgrade this year), there was a key switch that selected between 3 and 6 operators. That most likely is a setting on the maintenance screen now, assuming they got a fancy new Consign panel like Invadr's.
So I had 5 ops including the main board op, 4 for harness check (load/unload, back vs front). Where's the 6th?
For the Exit, now the QQ position. Its never used.So I had 5 ops including the main board op, 4 for harness check (load/unload, back vs front). Where's the 6th?
In 2011 when I was at apollo, we often saw lines for QQ that was longer than the actual line. 1 hour for Standard, 1.5 for QQ... thats when we just started doing an entire train of QQ to get them through.... unfortunately. In my opinion, this is one of the reasons that Apollo is a terrible place to use a QQ. You wait forever, because no one is really managing the RAP/QQ line. And then you are forced into either the second or second to last row. Usually, given Apollo's capacity, it is just faster to use the regular queue, which also buys you the superior back row.
I heard they are re wiring the whole ride with fiber optics!
I’m a dummy too when it comes to that as well but, I know that it will definitely improve communication for all categories, it will also probably decrease downtime and that’s about all I know. For a dummy like me, what does that mean?
WiFi connectivity points on the MCBR, the employee phones have better sound quality, better communications between sensors and the ride computers for lower downtime? All of the above, none?
Already posted thatapollo is getting a more modern b&m fiber optic system, gotta remember the ride was built 21 years ago
Bolded the right part. For a dummy like me, what does that mean?
