I wondering if golden kingdom redevelopment is next after the boardwalk renovation & coaster
Likely not, golden kingdom is probably one of the last areas we will see renovated. I mentioned it in the Joker thread but the Kingda Ka wound is still very fresh and there needs some time between Ka closing, and the reopening of the area/a ride that directly references Ka. I think areas like the lakefront, frontier adventures, and the area by Nitro are probably going to receive updates first before Six Flags decides they can reopen the golden kingdom.

I can see a timeline like:

2026-2029: boardwalk (with 2028 being a drop tower for either boardwalk or metropolis)
2030-2031: lakefront
2032: frontier adventures
2033: the area by nitro
2034-2037: golden kingdom

Just absorb Golden Kingdom into Boardwalk and then absorb Plaza del Carnival into Frontier Adventures.

Heck, I kinda wish Jersey Devil weren’t there because redoing FA to be the Jersey Pine Barrons would be a nice geographical pairing, then the right side of the park can be 2-3 DC locations, center area getting the other themes.

I think Golden Kingdom and Plaza del Carnival are both SUPER strong land themes for Great Adventure and, eventually, long-term, I'd very much like to see both fully built out. Absorbing either into their more generic, less interesting, less-iconically-SFGAdv neighbors would be very sad to see.

I disagree on Golden Kingdom more than Plaza Del Carnival. Maybe those would be the two together to merge into one space.

The reason I suggested it is because GK was basically there for KK/Zum, and now with the new Phantom Spire looking like it will be part of the Boardwalk treatment, I was looking at how could they use that space.

Not sure if this is feasible. I would demolish the interior of the fort where the Skyway station was and locate the new drop tower within the remaining fort structure.

I would retheme and expand the Jr. Thrillseekers area east to create one large kids area. Bugs Bunny National Park gets removed as part of the consolidation. Skull Mountain gets replaced with a new coaster due to age.

I thought Golden Kingdom was surprisingly well themed and even reminded me of DAK in parts. The vibes were great. I don’t see why its past attractions being removed would prevent future attractions from anchoring the area. A Big Bear Mountain style family coaster, plus maybe a flat, would be the perfect draw. Throw in a bit of Jungle X-style world building and you have an A-grade themed area.

So we know 2026 will be the Boardwalk and so will 2027. I think in 2028 it makes sense to overhaul the kids area or consolidate into one large kids area. Then in 2029 I could see Movietown get the DC Universe treatment with new rides (drop tower?), etc. In 2030 they could then tackle the Golden Kingdom area.

You're not wrong, but how well themed will it be 5-10 years from now (by the time they get to it) when all of the plants have withered away, weeds have started to come up through joints in the ground, and structures have started to deteriorate? I know we're in a different era of ownership and how the Old Country area was left to rot isn't necessarily relevant, but I don't see even the new SFEC putting any budget towards maintaining an area that isn't accessible to the public, especially with how much they're pouring into the Boradwalk refresh and the 2027 coaster. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Even if there were zero preservable assets, I would still advocate for returning to The Golden Kingdom with its original theme in due time. I think the legacy of Ka and the vibe of The Golden Kingdom is going to linger so strongly over the park that it would be foolish not to revisit it.

I think cleaning up and improving currently-open and accessible areas has to come first of course, but medium-to-long term, I would be very disappointed to not see the Golden Kingdom legacy capitalized upon.

It’s been a while since I’ve been back into that area due had no desire to ride Zum and the long walk of nothingness. But IIRC there isn’t a ton of room to fit much along the path right? So even if you put a big attraction back there how much can you put along the paths to be a continued draw.

I think the thought in recycling the GK as-is would be putting another coaster (family?) in the KK and/or Rolling Thunder plots accessible by that path. You could also take down the trees in the back and expand the GK into the KK/RT plots. As you point out, there's not really room to do anything until you get a ways down the path to the KK station, then there's lots of room for development all the way down to the KK tower and over to El Toro's north side. They "could" make it a destination and link it better with El Toro and the western section. There is an existing non-public roadway going under the NE side of El Toro where they park safari vehicles near the KK tower, so there's already built-in access for a possible pedestrian path down under El Toro to the far corner of the RT plot. It's a huge area almost twice the size of the Boardwalk if they ever chose to re-develop it. But that'd be a major project I don't think would happen anytime soon.

So strange that you post that rn because I was just looking at recent precedents for Six Flags adding railroads to parks to see if proposing exactly this relocation was outright absurd or not

Probably a crazy but I would love to see them save capital railway at SFA and possible run it as a train shuttle between the main park, base camp and the water park.
As much as I'd love to see a train ride added (back) to SFGAdv, I don't know if the diesel-locomotive-that-spews-exhaust-into-the-passenger-cars railway, which only has one functional locomotive (the other appeared rotting when I rode it closing day) is the best possible relocation.

I would love to see a transportation ride around the entire resort, but I think they should wait until they have a more value-oriented hotel built. It could go Hotel>Dry Park>Safari Base Camp (with Savannah Sunset connection)>Water Park in a loop.

Having said that, I think putting the hotel around where the base of Ka's tower would work great, since you could use the existing Safari Base Camp parking lot and driveway infrastructure.

but how big is the base of ka tower is to fit the hotel in?, are we talking about great escape resort size or a normal hotel size?

I mean, theres are other room where this hotel can go in (maybe six flags can buy some lands intended for adventure crossing now that adventure crossing is in some trouble)

The Jackson, Detective, and Northern Railway is in its planning stages at the moment but I don't think there's a single property in the chain that needs land acquisitions less
