RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

No clue. I can't get up there more than once a week (and often not even that) to provide all the construction updates. Anyone else want to step up to the plate? It only takes about 15 minutes or so...

I guess I would be an ideal candidate for that. I live literally 10 minutes from the park. I have an annual pass (that soon expires by the way). And im off work mondays and tuesdays...

Im just so busy on those days. But no one wants to hear all that. I will try to take maybe an hour or so next tuesday and shoot up to BG to take pics of the "black hole"...

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

That'd be great, Tekalion. The smoking area next to Das Festhaus can get some good shots of the dirt pit, and the boat (if you have time) is great for the drop area.

I'm going to try to be there on Thursday for at least an hour or two in order to take some pictures, but no guarantees.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I was there Friday, the hole is bigger and all the BBW footers are gone. Not much else has changed. I had a talk with someone, we won't see any new footers for at least a short period. Apparently they redid the footer layout in the event building and are still working on those plans. I don't know if this means the track layout has changed or if it means anything. All I do know is the person I talked to is pulling his hair out waiting for the revised plans.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Ditto that in the above post, i was there Tues and Fri this week and other than the hole being a bit bigger and the pile of dirt being a bit larger there was really nothing to speak of so I didn't take any pics, the last round of pics posted were very well done and pretty much still sum it up to this point... I checked till they were done Fri and it was pretty much just general construction all day back in the field.

Cerebral

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

 That defiantly adds a new twist to this story. Can you think of any other reason they would need to change the footer layout other than a new track layout? From what I saw, almost all of the footers are directly below the track- why would they change that?

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I dont post often and I'm not sure if anyone else as reported this but there are pink markings on the ground near the closest corner to the smoking section by festhaus. There is also rebarb laying right beside the markings which are in the shapes of boxes and which kind of look like footer markings. I just thought everyone would like to know.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to have a look next time I get over there.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

pile driver is in the hole....or it might be a drill...but it's in the hole as of 1pm tuesday...

I'll be there tomorrow. Expect an update.

We'll probably be there tomorrow night. As for posting pic updates myself...it's a little difficult for me to go out of my way to do it. I always have one kid in tow and they wouldn't exactly be thrilled about the idea of standing around while I take pictures of dirt. :p

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I've only heard people downing on the fact Zierer is building the coaster, maybe that's why BGW chose them. Possibly to throw us off guard, thinking this will be the most tame coaster out there, but will come up with something much more wild.

Expect the unexpected. ;)

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

^ They have no reason to try to throw us off guard- they didn't plan for us to even know anything about the coaster.

Well everyone says this won't live up to the BGW standards, but they always come through (with the exception of Drachen Fire, wasn't BGWs fault either, and they replaced it with AC), but it seems a bit odd to me that they chose Zierer, and by doing so made the coaster's first impression as "Unsatisfying". They know manufacturer's reputations, so it seems strange to me that they would choose Zierer unknowingly causing this first impression. We'll have to wait and see though.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

but i still see this ride being a failure cause look at the last 2 rides they hyped up like this eita and mt eita was the biggest screw up for bg next to taking out BBW and MT which still isnt running. thats why i think this coaster is gonna be a huge failure

if they didnt plan for us to know anything about it would they have said anything about it at the announcement for bg and water country they told us itd be full of many first multi-launching and would use the old bbw area so if they didnt plan on us knowing anything. do you think they would have said anything

A Rebuttal:

1. None of the rides you mentioned were manufactured by Zeirer.

2. BBW's last season was the roughest it had ever been in spite of some off-season TLC; although it was my favorite coaster ANYWHERE, I have come to grips with the fact that it's time had come.

3. This coaster is still in flux: possible changes in layout, undisclosed theming and no *official* name, even.

4. Punctuation can be your friend.

Geez, not even a footer in the ground and the coaster already sucks. You guys are tough.

What if they are removing the drop portion of the track in light of issues with Mach Fail and Zierer having never done such a thing? It would probably be a "simple enough" redesign... Nothing drastic yet might cause for quite a few of the footers be in need of rearranging.

I think the fact that this thing is replacing the Big Bad Wolf (A coaster that was sacred to most.) is why we are being so critical. At least that's my reasons.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

The layout sucks is why im being so critical. It's fairly tame, and unless this themeing is on par with Disney and can deliver some outstanding effects that make up for the lack of intensity, I doubt I will be a large fan of this coaster. And it's replacing BBW. IMO we should have been getting something close to cheetah hunt. Until we can see renderings and such, we wont know exactly for sure how great the layout of the ride will be, but it doesnt look promising at all...
