RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

OT:re I305: I rode all of its incarnations last year and I will say I was disappointed by all of them. At least opening day it had a nice first drop, so if they've removed the trims in 2.0, then at least there's that. But unless they changed the rest of the layout, it's entirely too violent for my taste, at least as long as it has OTSRs. I would rather have had a less steep first drop and a lap bar, but that's just me. Now, had it been a third of the size and had only lap bars (in other words been a Mega-Lite) I would have been much happier.

I haven't been on it this year. I am shunning Cedar Fair for a year because basically I hate them. Next year when I am able to do a little more travelling, I'll probably get a pass again because there will be enough new credits to make it worthwhile.

Back on topic: I have nothing more to say, actually. Nevermind.

^ Lap Bars ftws (Oh and I lied Wicked at Lagoon does have Lap Bars. I mean who doesn't like a zero g roll with just a lap bar?)

Don't really like B&Ms with shoulder harnesses, except the new ones (Hate bumpy B&Ms) so I'm more of a lap bar guy. And it's only #11 on Golden Ticket Awards. AC is #4.

Hey, they promised "Many Firsts", and I don't think BGW has ever lied.

I know you just didnt quote the golden ticket awards....

And not every ride can have only lap bars. The restraint argument is pretty pointless when comparing a ride with multiple inversions to a ride with none.
A Lapbar just isnt gonna secure you during certain inversions and turns, which is the "problem" with i305. It just has to have OSTRS. The turns are so sharp and fast...

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Lets get this thread back on track, shall we?

We have a new Project 2012 update posted to the main site showing the first footer or two being poured.

As for future construction, from what I could gather, they'll have to destroy about half the path (width wise) that runs from the bridge to Der Autobahn in order to get the crane where they need it for construction. I'm not sure whether or not the bridge will be effected. It sounds like we can expect this to occur around Howl-O-Scream. Talk about a bottleneck.

RE: 2012 Coaster

And I didnt quote off the top of my head lol. And Ik not all rides can have lapbars, but still, lot more fun.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Guys... There is alot of nitpicking here, I think what some people don't get is that we are EXCITED about getting a new coaster, hey it might suck in the end like the BBW (did I just go there, YES!) but most of the fun is just the build up to it like Christmas, I might be getting this or I might be getting that...

I have not rode too many Zierer coasters and I think most are overseas in Germany anyway? SO i figured i would check out the site for myself (www.zierer.com), from the looks of the press kit photos this might just be a better ride than I thought. We have 4 coasters now that are fantastic and really need to add a family coaster now to the park since the wolf is gone. Take a look at the new Zierer designs and the LAUNCH COASTER.

Yes those are just lapbars...

I have a more positive outlook due to the fact that BG tends to push the designs to the limit and I'm sure Zierer wants more of the huge US market....

I made a post in the HoS thread about this, but it's pretty much use the train tracks as a pathway at night.

RE: 2012 Coaster

The only thing I'm worried about is the current design of the train (8 cars, 2 people per car). The more cars, the more friction, and the harder it is to get up a vertical hill. :(

RE: 2012 Coaster

Dk where but heard it from somewhere, that's why I'm saying it (To possibly rule it out)

EDIT: But other than Cheetah Hunt, I'm pretty sure at least 75% of the launch coasters I've heard have had some sort of vertical hill.

That's a funny way to spell "Griffon".

Someone want to tell me where this vertical hill stuff is coming from...?

Hyper coaster enthusiasts that love to take rumors/false statements and spread them like crazy without thinking. (Most amusement park fan sites in a nutshell.)

78% of statistics are made up on the spot

Spoiler: You're very wrong.

Yeah erm thats why I said "That I've heard about". I don't have a list.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Well looking at the concept art and the Zierer site again, it looks more like one of there elevated seating coasters....

RE: 2012 Coaster

I can almost guarantee you that it'll use themed versions of Zierer's elevated seating coaster trains.

That bottlenecking should be lovely when, or if, Mach Tower opens.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Question: Seeing as this new coaster isn't made by Intamin, does this mean launches will not be electro-magnetic launches?

RE: 2012 Coaster

^Zierer's coaster "Wicked" at Lagoon in Utah uses LSMs to propel the trains. They'll most likely use the same technology for BGW's 2012 coaster.
