RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Geez, not even a footer in the ground and the coaster already sucks. You guys are tough.

Actually the ravine footers used for bgw are to be used for the new coaster so technically...:p

The layout sucks is why im being so critical. It's fairly tame, and unless this themeing is on par with Disney and can deliver some outstanding effects that make up for the lack of intensity, I doubt I will be a large fan of this coaster. And it's replacing BBW. IMO we should have been getting something close to cheetah hunt. Until we can see renderings and such, we wont know exactly for sure how great the layout of the ride will be, but it doesnt look promising at all...

Well, we don't actually get the blueprints. We have to remember we don't know what might happen on the track, as things like hills and zero g rolls etc. are unknown with the layout. As long as there's air time, and it actually does feature many firsts, I'm fine (For now).

Before the plans were leaked I was expecting the same thing. Honestly I would have been much more satisfied with a Cheetah Hunt sister/clone that followed a similar layout to the Wolf. My main worries are that this thing may become an experiment gone wrong from Zerier bitting off more than they could chew. (Considering some of their past products.) I see this thing being an oversized kiddie coaster/dark-ride instead of a legit medium-intensity family coaster.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Ohhhhh Erm...anyone else notice in concept art, the trains only have lap bars? :S (Rating in my mind went down, and is that even legal?)

The layout doesnt really give room for anything other than a small hill or two thrown between the turns... Also considering the coaster type, Im doubting there will be anything like a zero-g roll.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

^ Wicked at Lagoon also made by Zierer does. Never underestimate.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Oh sorry was talking to youhow2, couldnt reply cause it was such a big post. Ik i love lapbars, but seeing what could possibly be in store....

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

You guys remember the wolf right? besides a swinging car, what crazy elements did it have? This coaster will be as intense if not more intense than big bad wolf if the plans we saw aren't too far off. I mean the second half of the ride is the same layout with a faster lift. And on the same note I thought everyone was asking for a family ride, medium intensity coaster. Everything that we have seen fits the bill in my opinion.

one footer has been dug and has rebar in place....more to follow tomorrow I suppose... Also it looks as if there was more clearing on the big drop towards the rhine river.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

The only comment to the negative criticism of this coaster is that when I305 was first announced KDfansite looked a lot like this.... just saying.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

^ I'm not going to try and make this a 305 thread BUT... have you ridden it! /rant

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I Thought i305 looked amazing... Not what I was expecting, but amazing

Now, this... The layout doesnt look exciting, we know plenty of the key elements, we have an overhead view of the layout. We know there will be drops and hills, the largest of which will be the drop over the rhine. Aside from the themeing, the ride has nothing going for it other than a few small hills and some turning action. This seems to be a ride purely based off themed elements. Will it be refreshing? Yes. Will it be fun? I'm sure... But the layout suggest the ride rest more on the shoulders of its themed elements moreso than anything else.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

I have not but my friends have.

The layout looks like it will contain: Vertical Launch hill, a drop section, probably some sort of inversion, and in the concept art, it looks to me the drop may go vertical (Or beyond? 0.0 Ik it's just concept art but still).

Many Firsts: Vertical Launch Hill (Has it been done before?)
First American coaster with a drop section. Check.
Erm...thats 2 (Not many). Obviously they have much more in store for us...If you think about it, BGW always counters BGA, and then some (Ik Ik Drachen Fire, but they got AC). If you think about it, Python<LNM, Kumba<AC, Montu<Alpengeist, Sheikra<Griffon. So...Cheetah Hunt<2012 project?

EDIT: Oh and also looks like they'll have headchopper trees.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

i'd Rather Kumba than AC, but that's just me... and your friends telling you i305 sucked? Come on now... It's one of the top rated coasters in the world among enthusiast so, until you ride it yourself....

Im not gonna keep my fingers crossed on that vertical launch hill either...

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Don't really like B&Ms with shoulder harnesses, except the new ones (Hate bumpy B&Ms) so I'm more of a lap bar guy. And it's only #11 on Golden Ticket Awards. AC is #4.

Hey, they promised "Many Firsts", and I don't think BGW has ever lied.

That number is based on the 2010 V1.5 of I305, the 2011 V2 is dramatically better.

That said AC is right behind I305 in my book.

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

Confused. Isn't V2 just they took trims off and made the radius of the first turn larger? >.>

RE: 2012 Coaster (Name To Be Discovered)

v1 was when it opened up for 2010 v1.5 is when they added the trims in june 2010 and new restraintsV2 is the removed trim breaks and different style turn. The radius was never changed as bigger footers were needed to be placed for the bigger supports to go in place.
