UPDATE: Everything in the picture is still the same but the procedure is loading from one point, exiting from 3 behind the drop carriages. The area Zumanjaro's loading platform occupies is incredibly tiny, and its queue wraps around the base of Kingda Ka and under the new supports they added to reinforce the tower. Everything under Kingda Ka except the loading platform is covered.

I don't know quite when things are set to pick up but some of the water dummies from El Toro that usually sit in the storage track have disappeared and one of the maintenance tables that are strapped to the lift carriage was sitting in the maintenance bay behind Bizarro (A guest actually asked what it was from cause it was big and orange and maintenance was hitting it with a hammer).

Drop tests have happened over the previous weekend before Kingda Ka opened for the day. Right now from what I've seen Zumanjaro is not allowed to test while Kingda Ka is running, but as far as I'm aware both will be allowed to run at the same time when it opens. A preemptive opening date is not confirmed but it could open possibly as early as Saturday.

The first real drop tests took place today at around 4 in the afternoon. The carriages dropped from about 100 feet into the brakes immediately and not at the same time. Opening date target is set for sometime next week, I believe Saturday the 14th. Kingda ka will be open the day before until midnight for their grad night event.

Zumanjaro conducted its first full height drop tests today. This coming after something damaged the protector roof on the drop gondolas the previous day, which doesn't seem to have impacted testing and opening since a) they still conducted testing and b) it was completely fixed today.

So on another note, the queue will not have any switchbacks in it. It'll just be three lanes wide from the entrance point all the way to the boarding platform, and there will be an adjacent fourth line for the exit pathway. My only guess is for Flash Pass, Single Riders, and normal groups unless they're using three separate lines and allowing only 8 people to step through for each gondola.

Am I the only one who thinks that the only Drop Tower that really needs a POV is Falcon's Fury? Everything else just looks like a trip on an elevator to me.

Zumanjaro is delayed again it seems. Today was media day, but they never got the state permit to open for them to ride and film. It is possible that they can get the permit in time for the July 4th opening.

Rescheduled for July 10th it seems, permit did not come in time for the 4th. Odd considering that those documents need only 24 hours to come into full legal effect.

Note: Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka will have absolute zero tolerance on loose articles while riding. If there's anything that is outside of your pockets it cannot go with you, glasses and hats included. I'm pretty sure the state will not be happy if god forbid someone gets hit by a loose article riding Zumanjaro when Kingda Ka's train passes by. There's a reason why the entire queue under the tower is completely covered and the drop carriages have protective tops mounted on them.

I knew something was up with that. Six Flags may be a lot of things, but I know they wouldn't schedule an opening date knowing it was waiting for an inspection. Completely out of the park's hands at this point. Sadly it effects them majorly.

Inspector came at midnight and approved it. Either way Zumanjaro and Ka are not allowed to cycle at the same time, reducing Ka's capacity to under 650 riders per hour and Zumanjaro to around 480. Ka is supposed to have 54 dispatches an hour and Zumanjaro was projected for 36, as it stands its now 36 and 18, respectively.

What? Is this temporary? How can they do that? Magic Mountain's doesn't have this problem. I think the park will regret installing this on Ka.
 
You can't really throw stuff off of Superman and have it hit the people on Drop of Doom like you can with people on Ka dropping stuff on Zumanjaro's riders.

Still I hope the state and the park will work something out in the coming year so the capacity doesn't have to be reduced like this. Adding nets along the coaster track on the coaster tower should help.
 
Yes, Superman is really laid out totally differently. I hope something can be done. I don't think SixFlags thought out all the scenarios with this install. They just wanted to open the worlds tallest drop tower and call it a day.
 
Wait. So there is a concern about people on the drop tower getting hit by people throwing and dropping stuff from the coaster? They didn't think about a mitigation for that before? I hope we are talking about things accidentally falling out of people's pockets...
