They literally had a group of men pulling individual nails out of wooden planks on the bridges and doorframes.

Wooden planks can be saved for other things. The back part of the mountain is ruthlessly ripped open and the mountain's supports are coming down.

While I am still personally pessimistic about the mountain's future I do see some possibly positive signs. Namely the above the old Smurf Mountain station which appear to be relatively new. Why cut holes in the mountain if you are about to knock it down. On the other hand the bridge between the two parts of the queue has been stripped to bare metal possibly a sign that the part of the queue attached to the mountain is going but that building itself might stay.

It'd be kinda hard to take down several parts of volcano without a decent way to enter the mountain. They're demolitionists, not Houdini.

Why would they cut holes if they wanted to keep the mountain?
If they are removing the coaster part they could very well have to cut holes into it to gain access to disconnect parts to lift them out.

They were cutting holes in the mountain when they were refurbishing it.
Yes I don't recall these particular holes and a quick photo search from earlier I did not show them. Which might mean they are new.

Was more pointing out that drilling holes in the mountain was something they've been doing for a while to refurb the mountain, so seeing them doesn't really mean anything towards either sides because no one knows what the hell Wack is doing...

because they're:

It looked to me from I305 that there's now a section of coaster without mountain under it. I think they're removing the mountain first. Or certainly what they're removing from it.

I guess the chance of a new coaster relatively soon is higher if they ditch Mt. Cost Overrun. Just a necessary condition. (sigh)

^^-- between not carrying any phone or cam and the greatest visibility being from on I305, no. From the top of the brake run it was impressive, but since the glimpse was so quick, I definitely thought about it, even if only for personal inspection.
