Bad as Gwazi? No.
Bad as Grizzly? Depends on the time of year.
Smooth as Phoenix? Ha.
Smooth as El Toro? Don't get ahead of yourself.

Is the ride really running THAT poorly now? When I rode it on the second to last day of Christmas Town, it was running amazingly well. The ride can get really rattly during the season, but it's nowhere near as rough as any of the wooden coasters I've ridden (granted I've only ridden a handful). I'd even go out on a limb and say if you really wanna experience true coaster jackhammering, ride Gwazi. That ride will literally shake the brains out of you if you rode enough times.

It's a great family coaster and the public seems to enjoy it a lot. It's not meant to be the biggest or fastest, but it provides a very solid ride.

I don't get the roughness with Verbolten as well.  I last rode it during HOS and I did notice a little vibration here and there but nothing that I would consider rough.

If I had magical powers I would take every one here complaining about Verbolten's roughness and transport them to Knotts Berry Farm to ride Ghostrider and Parc Asterix to ride Gouderix.  You'll really know the meaning of rough after going on those two! LOL

Why did they cover up the window that the conveyor belt used to travel through into the other room. It used to look great and now it looks awful.

Just got back from the park and took a couple rides on Verbolten today (one in the green train and one in the blue).

I didn't notice any roughness but there were a few spots throughout the course where it rattled a bit.  I wouldn't call it rough though and it didn't ruin my rides.

I rode it for the first time this season today, and it was considerably smoother than basically all of last year. And that's pretty good because I rode in the roughest part of the train, the middle. The turns on the last s-turn still shake you pretty violently, but I guess it will always be like that, it's just the way it was designed. However, it was a lot better than basically all of last year.

You have to remember that the smoothness of your ride varies depending on where you sit on the train. If you're sitting in the front or back you should be fine, but if you're in the middle you're bound for a somewhat jerky ride.

My least favorite spot is still the second to last turn around because the train levels out faster than your upper body does. At times it feels like the ride wants to just toss you into a tree, but it's nothing anywhere near like what Skyrush or i305 do. I mean i305 really wants to plant you in the woods and Skyrush wants to toss you across the lake like a stone, and at times I feel like it'll almost succeed.

Also, I got the Wolf theme, and honestly I have no idea what you guys were talking about with the one-eyed wolves. Every wolf I saw had two eyes, in fact I looked around, and I couldn't find one wolf with one eye.

Maybe it's been fixed? Pretty much every single wolf was a cyclops back in March.

It could also be where you were sitting, a wire or support could've been blocking your view of a couple eyes, it doesn't necessarily mean they were out.

It shouldn't matter where you sit because at some point you have the same visual viewpoint as others on the train. On another note I have only gotten Spirit and storm when I have ridden, so as far as I'm concerned the eyes don't even exist.

OK. So the Banbury Cross discussion has me curious now. How exactly did they pick the car theme for Verbolten? It does seem a bit random. Was it just "Germans make good cars?"

That is just pathetic.

And for the record, Germans make excellent cars, but they don't have the soul that Italian cars do, or the charm of British cars.

Actually, I think a big pushing point was Germany's famous Autobahn and then they mixed in the famous Black Forest.

Actually, the Nürburgring might make more sense. It is still stupid.

The 150,000 capacity Nürburgring is a motorsports complex around the village of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located about 70 km (43 mi) south of Cologne, and 120 km (75 mi) northwest of Frankfurt. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a much longer old "North loop" track which was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. The north loop is 20.8 km (12.9 mi) long and has more than 300 metres (1,000 feet) of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the old track "The Green Hell," and it is widely considered to be the most demanding and difficult purpose-built racing circuit in the world.
