RE: Verbolten

I noticed the up stop wheel today aren't tight on the track, when the trains stopped, the other wheels stop but the up wheels still spinned. This could Defenitly be a good reason for such rattlely ride

Also there was at aleast 5 down times today, the last one lasted for 2 hours and trains got stopped in the event building.

I'll post my review sometime tomorrow!

RE: Verbolten

Rode it first time today. In the back. Really good ride. Awesome queue, too. The event building was very cool. I also 'whited out' a bit as others have said in the building. I thought the launched were nice and snappy, the freefall drop does have a nice surprising freefall. I didn't feel much from the Rhine drop other than speed, I didn't know I hit the bunny hop until it was over...as in, I didn't feel any air. I concur with it having a vibration/rattle both before and after the Rhine drop that gave me a bit of tension on the shoulders after the fact. :(

In all, great BBW replacement. Had fun. But on a sad note, my wife, who rode it separately from me lost her iPhone in the event building. She didn't enjoy the ride so much after that. :(.

RE: Verbolten

I rode for my first time today too! One ride in front row, and one ride in back row. I must say. WOW. It was fantastic. The moonbox was my favorite theming in the event building, that thing was cool! I will posta detailed review tommorow with pictures!

All I can say to the "roughness" is this: go ride just about any coaster at KD, then see if Verbolten is "rough." I was at KD last Friday (ironically the opening day of Verbolten) and I felt that many of the coasters there were extremely rough.

As for the upstop wheels: the fact that they are not touching the track is definitely the reason for the roughness. The reasoning behind this is simple: I learned that the reason LNM is so rough is that the side-wheels are on the inside of the tracks and not touching the track, so that it can go side to side on the track. This is the same case for Verbolten, it's just that it will go up and down on the track.

Overview: Verbolten's roughness is more vertically based, due to the upstop wheel gap and LNM's roughness is horizontally based, due to the side wheel gap.

RE: Verbolten

Do you suppose the reason for the loose upstop wheel is the vertical drop? That would make sense to me.

Which coasters were "extremely rough" at KD?

Also, most of the coasters at KD are 6+ years old. Verbolten is brand new.

Not good. Not good at all...

RE: Verbolten

I think that the wheels always touching the track, I believe they are spring loaded, was an advancement that came over time. If this is so, I don't see why Verbolten wouldn't utilize this technology unless there's something we don't know that makes it necessary not to.
Do we know if Zierer's other rides have this feature? Maybe I am just used to the B&Ms at Busch and this is not standard from other manufacturers.
Another idea, obviously the lack of air time on the Rhine river drop is due mostly to the extreme slow down at the bridge, but what if the lack of air on the bunny hop is due in part to the wheels? Instead of exerting that upward force on your body, the train moves upward with you at the same rate so you don't get a pop of air. Is that a possibility?

Could the park be buying time to work on the on ride video and the yellow train??

I doubt they would pick Memorial Day weekend to do that.

RE: Verbolten

Maybe they want to get it up before tomorrow, or before the peak season starts. But I suppose that it might be good unless they want people to see it and come back when it is open.
