RE: Verbolten

Willing to bet money something happened with the drop track. The "new ride, many problems" theory reared it's ugly head, hopefully BGW maintenence stays on top of it and keeps everything to a minimum, or we could be seeing more of these to come.

RE: Verbolten

Alrighty here is my Verbolten review:

First Ride
So this was my first ride and I was super pumped. I got there at 9:40, and they opened early. I ran straight to the bridge through Italy. and waited for about two minutes before they let us go to Verbolten. We got there and entered the queue. The loose article/bag policy is MUCH stricter this year. So I was pleasantly surprised how fast the line moved. we would stop for about two minutes, then we would move about 40 people up! The queue was very nicely themed with many things to look at and watch when you were waiting! Gerta's laugh, as people have said before, is, well...disturbing. Anyways we moved up to the loading station and went for front row in "Lane A". The wait was about 15 minutes for the front seat.
We got on orange train and dispatched from the station. The rumbling engine was a nice effect! So we took the S curve and I felt the little "bumpiness" that you guys have been mentioning, and really it wasn't anything bad! We launched under the bridge into the Black Forest! We went by flashing lights and glowing tress and stuff and I felt some airtime over that launch hump! We hit the helix and looked to the left. Couldn't see the moonbox. I kept looking and then saw it! It was awesome! It looked like a spinning moon behind trees and stuff! So we hit the little brake run and then I saw TONS of trees and we dove through a little hole in the middle of them [was one of my favorite parts of the ride] So we came up to the track and figured out we had storm. Big flashes and thunder and all kinds of nice effects! Then we sat in the darkness and I knew what was coming next. The freefall drop! It dropped as soon as thunder sounded! It gave me a REALLY NICE pop of airtime. We rolled out on to the second launch. It's acceleration was lightning fast and I loved it! We went up to the top where we heard creaking and cracking noises on the bridge! We dove down to the Rhine river and even in the front row I got alittle bit of floater airtime! We took that turn left smoothly and then we hit the transition. It was snappy as expected. not "rough" We went over the little bump and turned into the brakes which gave some nice positive G's.
I absolutley love Verbolten, and it is my second favorite coaster, behind I305! I give it a 9.5 out of 10! Great job BGW and Zeirer!

Second Ride
So I don't really need to re-hash the queue. This ride I rode back row. But I will compare it to front row.
So as we headed out of the station I felt the bumpiness again. Again, nothing too bad. We flew into the event building and I was pleasently surprised that it wasn't as rough as I though it'd be and we got a full 2 seconds of airtime out of the launch hump! So I could still see all the scenery and what not even from back row [and I'm only 59 inches :) ]. I blacked out on the helix! However the freefall scenery wasn't as fun as it was in the front b/c most of the scenery there is in the front. But that didn't affect the actual freefall! Still fun! Okay, here's where it gets a little rough. Evn trying to hold my head back it was forced out by the little drop that leads into the launch and slammed back into the seat [kinda fun actually] and the ascent was rougher going up to the bridge. I did, however get better airtime then I did in front going over the drop to the Rhine:) The turns were bumpy and snappy [as all are quick transitions in back seats] and was kinda rough. But nothing to unbearable! We hit the brakes and the ride was over.

The back has its pros and cons. The front had a great view, smooth ride, a little airtime, and was great all around seat which I would reccomend over back seat! Front rowwas my favorite!

And now some pictures to end with :) [btw I am the short one with red hair!]

RE: Verbolten

Can we get moe detailed pictures of the queue, anyone? I would live to see all the little things put into the queue.

RE: Verbolten

Guys. Verbolten isn't rough. I'm sorry. You know what it does feel like though? A roller coaster. Sigh. Not all rides feel like B&M (which is quickly falling out of my favor). That doesn't make it a bad ride or mean that there's anything wrong with it.

RE: Verbolten

Yeah, I've got to be honest, I'm stunned by all this talk about how rough the ride is. I haven't ridden very many coasters in my life, but this ride doesn't not seem rough to me AT ALL. I mean, too rough? blacking out? neck injuries? vomiting? headaches?...I just don't get it.

If you go back and look at my post from the morning of the soft opening, I said I thought the ride was a bit underwhelming in almost every phase (the speed, the drop track, the helix, the launches, the river drop, everything). I thought it was a good, solid, enjoyable ride (and I've ridden about 20 or so times now), but I didn't find it necessarily as "thrilling" as the rest of the park's coasters.

I must be missing something...

RE: Verbolten

Hmmm, maybe they shut down the roller coaster to find my wife's phone. ;)

I gave some comments a page back. comparably to Rebel Yell, Grizzly, etc, it is a VERY smooth ride, nice banks and transitions. But if you felt the vibrations mentioned, then you can't deny they weren't there or deny it couldn't smoother. When I mentioned feeling the vibrations from the track and getting a bit of muscle tension in my shoulders from it, I wasn't saying it in comparison to other rollercoasters. My comparison was to NOT feeling vibrations/bumpiness and NOT getting muscle tension. Some of us feel there is room for adjustment/improvement there. That is all. If they can't fix it, so be it. But it the vibrations still exist.

It's kinda like driving a car with a poor wheel alignment, or worn ball joints, control arms, tie rods, or shocks. You will feel vibrations, bounciness, unevenness in the ride. Over time you might get used to it and it won't feel all that bad. If you drive a car that is a total piece of garbage; compared to some worn ball joints, you might not feel much. But, if you know what a beautiful suspension and a smooth ride feels like (aside from the actual road your driving on) Then even a little or moderate vibration will be noticed. Kind of like the pea under the mattress.

That is kinda whats going on in this conversation.

RE: Verbolten

I did black out in the back row and thought it was a little jerky back there but I'm sure the front is a lot better

About the roughness, I'm not really understanding why people opposed to the opinion of others that the ride is rough are downright almost insulting their opinion by straight out telling them they're wrong (and even one poster used the word wussies). If I think it's rough, then I think it's rough. Period. That's how I feel. Spend all your breath and tell me it's not, but it's not going to change how I felt stepping off that ride. Each time. If you don't think it's rough, then that's great too. Your opinion, my opinion.

I am just shocked at the ongoing negativity towards the roughness opinion in the past few pages.

RE: Verbolten

^Nothing really has changed since the last update. Thanks for the pictures though!

Anyway, as you already know, Verbolten shut down yesterday afternoon with the orange & green trains stuck in the event building and the red & blue trains in the station. Yellow has, of course, not yet left its spot in the maintenance bay. Anyway, I'm hearing that orange is now in the maintenance bay with red & blue in the covered train storage area. Where's green? By the sounds of it, still stuck in the event building from yesterday. Lets hope for the best. :-/

Yes and an evacuation took place. What I'm trying to figure out now is where the green train was stopped and why it hasn't been moved back to the station yet like the orange train was...

If anyone knows anything, my inbox is open. ;)
