RE: Verbolten

Watch out folks, it's Drachen Bolten!:p

Riding on Friday, so I'll see for myself. Seriously consider if this ride is bumpy to you having ridden Loch Ness recently (esp. the section exiting the first loop) or the trademark harshness that was Drachen Fire. I'm glad this ride isn't a forceless stroll through the woods, I'm sure it's just fine.

And if it is too rough, just wait 2 years for Busch to call B&M for a wing coaster in Ireland, lest it have the *seatbelt rattle-shake*;)

RE: Verbolten

I went yesterday.

I thought it was fab. But it IS vibrating. There is no doubt about it. Vibrating like that is a pet peeve of mine, I think it's headache inducing, but I don't know many people who agree with me. The comments about people being spoiled by B&Ms don't make much sense in this regard... That kind of vibrating is something I associate with B&M! Apollo and Alpengeist do it! No where near as bad, but they do. The worst offender I've ever riden is Hulk, and Nitro a close second.

The reason people are calling it out is because it's a minor fault in a new ride, and that's what enthusiasts do. :p Coupled with the fact that it's a manufacturer few people are familiar with.

But honestly, I think Verbolten's rattling is just newness. It feels like new coaster firmness. It's reminiscent of when Saw first opened and was so hard on every tiny jolt. Like a new shoe that's too stiff, it needs ware in a little. Give it a week or two and it'll calm down. It only seems to do it when it's moving slowly, when launching and through the indoors section, I didn't notice it. I was all sad face when it rolled out of the station and was vibrating, but as soon as it launched into the building I was beaming like a little kid.

The indoors section is AWESOME! You loose all sense of space in there. It's disorientating, fast, intense and it's SO dark. They've done a great job with it.

The drop isn't anything worth shouting about. It's not better than Thirteen's, if anything Thirteen's may be slightly better. It certainly seems less dramatic, instant and lowers kinda slowly into place. It also spends a LONG time getting itself set up and seems to take quite a while after, too. Thirteen is very much in, boom, out.

But at least Verbolten entertains you whilst you wait, using the time to present you with a show and build a sense of drama. For anyone unaware of what is about to happen, there must be a true sense of "what the hell is going on and where on earth are we?" And more importantly, different shows for every train??? Well damn. I was confused and then blown away when I realised. That's outstanding level of effort, and what a great way to make an narrative based coaster reridable. Awesome.

And omg they even themed the station floor. I was in awe.

On an unrelated note, I've been hatin' on Griffon but it was way better than I remembered yesterday. Oblivion is still better though.

RE: Verbolten

Not to be a pain, but I can't get down to Busch Gardens at all between now and the end of the school year. I'm writing an article for my school highlighting the new rides being introduced in the VA/DC/MD area (Swift already knows about this because I asked for permission to snag some of the photos), and I need a nice shot of one of Verbolten's trains going over the bridge. Something like this image would just be lovely:

Thanks for your time reading my request.

RE: Verbolten

Rode Verbolten yesterday and I must say, the vertical free fall really got me. I've been out of the "roller coaster loop" for almost a year now and completely forgot that element in the ride. The theming of the ride is brilliant and the second launch is quite exciting. As for the BBW-esque drop, I was slightly disappointed. Even in the back of the train, the airtime wasn't fantastic and only lasted a brief period of time.

Overall, the ride is a very good addition to the park IMO.

 I don't know if anyone found this already, but I found a animated picture of the Orange Train with its headlights on...

RE: Verbolten

To clarify my original post about riding Sunday:

Rough, as in bumpy, is the word I would definitely use. Forgive me, but this was my perspective from the third row and also from never riding a brand spanking new roller coaster. I am not confusing rough with quick transitions, as I went to Kings Dominion the day before and would agree that Verbolten's return to the station reminded me of Intimidator 305, albeit the much slower speed. The transitions are fine. The bumpiness, however, was comparable to a wooden roller coaster. I watched people in their seats vibrate as they coasted down to the first launch. What amazes me though is that the coaster is very smooth in the entire event building, just not before and after. I even thought that they had somehow made the track vibrate when pulling out of the station and "revving" up. The bumpiness doesn't detract from the ride for me because it didn't affect me physically, but my parents had other things to say. I will agree we are B&M partial.

If it wasn't for the bumpiness, I would say that Verbolten lives up to everything it is meant to be (and more in regards to the event building). After riding Outer Limits, I would most compare Verbolten to that. Launched, quick turns, inside, same speed, and fun. Forget Backlot Stunt Coaster, that ride is wack.

...It has minor differences than the actual train, but I think it's close to what the actual train will look like with the headlights on. :)

That train is a CTR for Roller coaster tycoon 3 made by Parallax. Here is more pics from here

Ya he put a lot of detail in these all the colors and hes making the Freefall drop too!

RE: Verbolten

You know how amazing this ride is? The one main complaint is not being the smoothest ride and floating footers.

Seriously, it these little things that doesn't make a big difference in the rise itself most of the time.

I have given the moderators permission to delete any posts on this thread that they see as unproductive, pointless, off-topic, etc. This is obviously a very popular and busy thread right now and we'd prefer for it not to be filled with uselessness. Just a quick heads-up.
