Last season I got a ride on TT in the rain. It was a warm day, so it was pretty glorious!

The red and green cards they are handing out after going through the metal detectors are not helping very much either. I heard at least a few people claim they folded up the card and put it in their pocket while waiting for their turn to ride. The real issue with this ride and it is becoming more and more problematic this season is the sensitivity with the restraint system; supposedly there is an issue with the "box" on the car for handicap access and that it is not registering correctly, thus the train cannot be dispatched. The ride broke down three times while my son and I waited in line; luckily for us is wasn't a huge deal as we have the All-Season Fast Lane Plus, but for people that waited in line 30+ minutes to then have the ride repeatedly break down in an already dreadfully slow dispatch time ride to begin with.

Do other RMCs have this same horrible dispatch/capacity problem?

The only other RMC I've heard have the ADA problem was Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom, but it hasn't been a catastrophic issue like it has with Twisted Timbers based on what you've been describing.

The worst bit about Twisted Timbers is that it's capacity is not all that great to begin with, their target capacity is 768 and that's with zero issues whatsoever. Whatever their operations has been doing when the ride has worked has not been of much benefit to the park, as they still have problems hitting that target number. Realistically they were lucky if they broke 700 last year. I don't even know how bad it is this year but considering they were regularly hitting 180+ second dispatches before the counter was disabled, I imagine it hasn't gotten much better. This capacity is so bad it puts them in line with what Volcano was capable of when it ran.

Yes, it feels as bad as the capacity problems that Volcano had.

I regularly see 180+ second dispatches on the ride.

I also found out that 300 is when the dispatch timer stops counting up, so the good news is that they never have a displayed dispatch time longer than 6 minutes (one minute countdown plus the 300 second count up).

That kind of nonsense only happens when the ride is down, but still it feels like the VR dispatch times at Six Flags (8 to 10 minutes).

The sensors for the ADA box (blue train only) have been going bad. While fixing it last week, the locks that hold it in have become loose. Sensors work now, but the they aren't alligning up properly as the box is all wobbly. It litterally takes a nice little shake of the box and the light will go green; however, that isn't something that a guest would think when they see operators shaking a box in order for the train to dispatch.

The problem you are mentioning hasn't really been that much of an issue. Also, the ride did shut down 3 times between 6:45-8:00pm, but it wasn't just for the box. The first time was for a guest illness, the second for the box, and a 3rd for a potentially bad wheel. The ride was operational the rest of the day 10:30-6:30 and has been very reliable in comparison to last year and every other ride in the park.

The timer is still on. It is set for 75 seconds. On average, the train leaves the station between 30-60 over the current timer. That means for a 1:45-2:15 dispatch time which I think is very reasonable. For @b.mac capacity hit 700+ quite frequently with 4 on the floor last year. It hasn't been very consistent this year, but the ride has been averaging 25-27 cycles on peak days. Things just seem slow because there is a lot going on.

That 1845 to 2000 timeframe was exactly when I was there. One of the ride ops mentioned that they had never seen the box cause that issue before, but I also saw the green train have issues with the front car restraints. At least yesterday's issues were not trapping riders on the previous train outside the station (I experienced that in May and it is an uncomfortable 10 minute wait for maintenance with the snug lap restraints).

I don't mean to complain, just seems like I am there for more breakdowns this year than last year; luck, or lack thereof, of the draw this year so far.

Thanks for the info RollyCoaster ?

No, we were in line for the front row.

I will give a RollyCoaster shout-out the next time maintenance is called. :)

Do they have a behind-the-scenes roller coaster tour (ala Cedar Point and Busch Gardens) at Kings Dominion, have never seen anything like that advertised?

They only do it for enthusiast events like Virginia is for Coaster Lovers and last year's Con, and even then they were very abbreviated tours compared to Cedar Points or BGW's.

How would folding up the card and putting it in your pocket do anyone any good? If you don't have the card, don't they toss you out of the line? They should if they don't. You're supposed to get either red or green. If they have none, just don't let them ride. Problem solved.

I don’t think that’s what @Crunchewy is suggesting. I think he’s saying all riders must present either a green or red ticket to the ops in order to ride. This way riders can’t get away with hiding their cards in their pockets.

I'm not in maintenance haha. Also b.mac is right about the tours. KD doesn't have the most in depth tours but they are fun. You may get to see some amazing angles of I305 and the backside of Twisted if you ever attend.

@Rolly what area are you in?

Timbers was absolutely flying today and my thighs still hurt because I'm smaller so their is a gap and i dont hit the shin guards. I left like 4 hours ago.

Ok so im a big boy, im 6'4 300 pounds. Last year i was pretty much the same and i got on el toro with a superrr tight squeeze but i got on. Now this will be my 1st RMC and the seats look somewhat big atleast. Any bigger people in here get on it? Also is there a test seat?

There is a test seat, thankfully.

However as much as it pains me to say this, El Toro is more accommodating than Twisted Timbers is. Make sure to sit in the back seats of any car, as they are more accomodating.
