I had no idea he had a heart attack; I'm very sorry to hear that.

My group talked to him this time last year and was surprised to hear that he has access to his shop any time he wishes. I think I supposed he created candles there and off-site but he indicated that he just works there even during the off-season.

Candle shop is moving to Trading Post and the actual candle shop will be converted to some beer/wine tasting thing.

The candle carver confirmed this for me. He said he'll have the same setup in the other shop as he does his current shop, he'll take up about 1/3 of the area. He also mentioned his shop will be the one getting converted. He said it will be "Canadian" w/ a wine/beer thing, I'm not sure if the tastings are all that it will be though.

The idea of a beer(and wine) tasting in that building reminds me of the store's previous name(before the candle carver), the 'Bitter Root' Company store.

He did, and does, have serious health issues. It is good to see him back this year. Our thoughts and well wishes should be with him and his family.

Acadia Traders is displayed on the park map. Most interestingly, it also appears to be trademarked. That probably doesn't tell us anything, but it's an interesting fact.

Union Jax was basically a precursor to London Rocks, so you might have something there. Although production of LR was supposedly delayed, whereas the shop opened on time.

My mom worked for the park in around the mid-90s and the peacocks were roaming around that time as well.  I remember seeing them hang out at the France Train Station.

Apparently they were fairly mean and would sometimes attack so employees had a healthy fear of them.

This is true. They had free reign over the backstage area, but mainly stayed around New France and the employee parking area behind it. It is a long walk from the parking lot to your call center depending on where you are (back when the uniforms were much more defined to each area, you were supposed to stay backstage as long as you could as to not blend employee looks) and it was common knowledge to stay as far away from the peacocks as you could.

The peacocks had no chill.

The entire candle shop has been moved to the back section of the store where you can get rocks for the panning and the entire trading post is themed to Canada. It's an entire Canadian gift store with the wine tasting section being were the candle shop used to be.

The lower "NFrance" photo above of syrup is the previous candle shop. The new candle location is where the Indian merchandise and cash register were located on the LeScoot side of the lower, larger store.

The previous candle shop has been remodeled and is full of Canadian wares like bear and moose clothes, wool socks and mitts, maple syrup, Penguins and other sports shirts, and a wine tasting station like in Aquitaine and Rhinefeld.

This is the week of the International Furniture Market here for us. This is huge deal in our area. Other than not knowing Donny Osmond now pushes a furniture line and seeing fun people like Joanna and Chip Gains, we were pleasantly surprised to see a touch of familiarity there.

The market is for buyers and dealers so the public can't order from there. But I found it interesting to see this and their other wares. It does make one wonder how BGW finds and selects their merchandise.
